The last time sawyer started and had a run of games was he not man of the match almost every game ? if not for injury he would surely be a fixture in our midfield , about time to give him a run in the team as he obviuosly can only get motivated for first team football .

Isn't that a slightly prima donnaish attitude that I'm not sure Sturrock would stand for, apart from anything else? Total conjecture. I think if Sawyer would prove himself in the reserves then Sturrock might take a bit more notice and he would have a better case.

I'd like nothing more than to see the Lee Sawyer of 2 years or so ago playing in our team, but I'm just not convinced that player still exists.

Leonard for me is not the answer, or at least not a right back. He has done an ok job at best and he like most of the side is very basic going forward. Personally I would like to see a proper right winger brought in come July and Sawyer given some time in the side to show what he can do. I dont think he is amazing by any means but i think we lack any sort of forward drive and that is one thing that he can offer us.

Leonard has done very well when played this season. His movement on and off the ball is very good (much like Harris) and with that throw, is always a threat. I think originally bought in as RB cover for Clohessy, he has proved his worth in midfield in bucket fulls.

Nothing wrong with being a prima donna , if it works for the team, the premiership is full of them !
He was in a rich vien of form before his injury surely he should be back in team by now if fully fit ,how will we ever know if the old Lee Sawyer of 2 years ago still exists unless we play him ?
We persist with Mohsni and all he ever seems to do is let the team down eventually ,Sawyer is a natural midfielder not a makeshift one like Bilel , think we need to give him a run of games , i personally think he is the most naturally gifted player we have , bar none .

Id be disappointed if we have JPK and Kane in the middle again on friday. Need to get at them from the start, they have not won all season. Wouldnt mind seeing Kane and Sawyer in the middle, Hall and Timlin out wide.
I think that Kane and Lee in the middle would be a big risk. Kane has shown his naivety several times in recent matches and Sawyer needs a chance to bed in to the first team before occupying such a crucial position. Personally, I would keep Timlin in central midfield. His passing is a bit off at the moment but he breaks up moves well, drives the ball forward and presses brilliantly. I wonder whether we should play Hall through the middle with him giving him a chance to control the game, since teams are sussing him out as a winger, and put Leonard and Sawyer on the wings? He could still take the set pieces.

Over the last few games I have thought, Sawyer must get a game today, and other than a 10 minute cameo hasn't featured at all. I can't understand it at all.

I think we may see Kane go in january. We need a bit of bite in the middle and Granty muscle and Sawyer attacking play that could be a partnership ready to shine

Sawyer doesnt get a look in while a guy who has a whole career spanning over a decade of failings to establish himself as a regular starter in any professional football team started our most important cup games in the past week!

I heard from a reliable source that it is felt his final pass is poor and his shooting isn't very good, that is why he isn't picked.

Sturrock taught Mourinho everything he knows, so obviously the pro contract at Chelsea was given with these fundamental weaknesses for a midfielder identified.

Lets be honest without a proper reserve league how can Sawyer prove himself with the odd arranged game here an there
i think he has played only 2 reserve games over the last couple of months and didnt shine ......but stick most of the first team in a game at that level and see if they shine with a lack of quality players around you .(its so blooming difficult)
Sawyer for me is lacking in confidence, NOT in his own ability but i think he feels if he makes one or two mistakes he wont get picked for the next game so then would be more withdrawn than play his natural game .(other regulars are allowed quite a few off games without dissappearing off the radar IMO)
If some one said to him look im gonna play you cos i believe in you go and show me what you can do i believe we would see the Sawyer who was 18 and playing without fear.
Hope he gets a start soon tho if not you have to presume he cant play the Sturruck way which again does not make him a bad player just a round plug in a square hole at this club but he does have a future somewhere IMO
