To be fair, his contract would have been up this summer had we not extended it using a clause which we didn't do until May.Don't sign the contract if you're not willing to honour it! We hold his contract and if someone wants to buy him then they must meet our valuation. Just because he's 'earnt' the right to play in a higher league doesn't mean we should accept any dismal offers that clubs offer.
Anyone criticising Lenny deserves one of his shots aimed straight at the crown jewels.
Ron needs to negotiate a deal to sell instead of "his not for sale" or we will end up with another Bailey situation.
That wasn't what he was quoted as saying last week though IIRC ! :winking:Millwall not his destination according to Barrett
The only ones that could end up looking like bellend's are Southend United. Lenny has earned the right for Championship football and a chance to quadruple his wages.
Its not his fault that his stock starts to drop on his last year, that's the way football is and we take advantage over clubs smaller than us. Think Theo Robinson from Lincoln in January.
You never get the best from a player who wants to go and he will at the end of the season for free. Plus it sends out a clear message to any other player not to have a one year option with our club because if you are a failure they will bin you but if your one of the best through your contract then they will hold you to ransom. Its good to see Ron trying to keep Lenny but he has given the opportunity for our club to get some reward from him so lets not abuse that fact

Saying we don't want to sell is a pretty sensible start point in a negotiation- everyone know every player has his price. Its a message that he is not going on the cheap. BTW didn't we turn down QPRs bid for Dan and he stayed another year? Don't recall that affecting Dan's performance or attitude?
Nothing story in the Echo - just quotes from his agent saying he would like to test himself at a higher level (though he won't hand in a transfer request) and claims the club have been offered good money!!!
Sorry mate, it has nothing to do with you, he's under contract and therefore the club are within their rights to reject offers
There's quite a good reason players don't hand in transfer requests, something to do with their current contracts, but for the life of me I can't remember what it is. Anyone refresh my memory?
