Sep Blater considering 9 month ban for Martin Taylor

Bit of a stupid idea really, what if Rooney broke Drogba's leg and chelsea intentionally kept Drogba out for longer so it prevents Rooney from playing?

We already have independent doctors knocking around to verify if international players are genuinely injured before a friendly no manager wantsa his players playing in. It wouldn't take a rocket scientist to verify if a player was recovered.

Sepp's not got a good reception on here but it is in fact his job to try to ensure that from FIFA's perspective the rules of the game are applied consistently, which means sometimes he does have to get involved in national issues likt this one.

I think that if players were out for the same time as the player they injured it would allow some of the flair players to perform more without fear of being kicked into next week by some clumsy or malicious centre back who can't keep up.

Regardless of Taylor's intention, it was evidently way over the top and 3 games is a poor punishment for something that denies a quality player (and fans) a year of football. Would he have gone in so hard if some kind of rule like this was in place?

I dont think the punishment will have any effect, otherwise no one would commit serious crime would they (unless they actually liked spending 10-15 years eating prison food)

It was a nasty injury , sure but I don't think it was a particularly bad challenge (I have seen lots worse) IMHO it was mistimed but so fractionally that his foot rolled over the top of the ball which accounted for the position on Eduardo's leg Talylors foot made contact.

Anyway , It would be nigh on unworkable, is he talking straight reds for violent conduct ? what about a tackle which results in a player getting injured but only merits a yellow, but its his 2nd of the game so he goes off ?
Would the injury have to result in the aggreived party leaving the field immediately ?...the list of questions could go on.

All this would do is increase the amount of feigning of injuries in the game, nothing better than have a "rotation" player out "injured" for a few weeks if it takes a key player out of a rival team for the same length of time....
