Seaso's Screwed Over

EastStandBlue

Life President
I'm a bit disapointed at the length of time existing Season Ticket Holders have been gven to renew them, with All Season Tickets that have not been renewed by 1st June being up for Grabs, giving Seaso's 3 weeks to find the money to renew or face losing their seat.

I love my seat and want to renew it next year, but will struggle to find the money for my season ticket baring in mind the short gap between the end of the season and the deadline. It's a lot of money to find in such short notice...

I'd happily place a deposit down in order to keep my seat Until mid-July, by which time i'll be able to pay the remaining balance... And if i haven't, i'll lose my deposit and the first option on the seat. Something IMO the club should look to do.

I think everybody would agree its been an expensive season. Away Games like Swansea, Barnsley and Bournemouth costing a fair amount of Cash in the closing weeks of the season and i think the club should be a bit more sensitive to this fact in the future...

I see your point mate - but someone on here did give details of how to buy the seaso on 0% credit card, and pay it off over nine months.

Maybe that could be your way round the problem?

but season tickets are always up for renewal at this time of year. I know it doesn't help now but if you stuck away £30 a month since last years renewal it would be more or less covered.

Try this site: o% credit cards
Get your ST then put the money away weekly. When the season ends you shouldhave enough to pay the balance and a bit left over for a "Southend 06/07 Champions" T Shirt

they should do a sufc credit card to sell at this point
biggrin.gif

I'd have one, to add to the collection....

they do its through MBNA, Club crest branded

the club do not like you to use credit cards as they say it costs them alot of money to them when you use them and i was told it also delys you in getting your application through for your season ticket. a phone call to the club might be a good idea to check this point if you are going to use a credit card

For a lot of people this is probably the only option to pay. I would imagine the club would rather sell an ST and be paid by credit card, than not sell one at all.

I rang up the ticket office to renew with a credit card and they said that I had to go the shop to pay with cash or a cheque?
Do i take it that they don't accept credit cards at all?

You can't buy your ST over the phone, as I found out to my cost yesterday after waiting on the phone for 30 mins.

I used mine last year, and there is a section on the application form to fill in your Credit card number.

If you're worried about funds, as long as you get your renewal in before the 1st June you can give them a post-dated cheque like I did last year

Cheerz, bit of disinformation from the woman on the phone then.... I too spent 30 minutes and was told I couldn't purchase over the phone.

Credit cards stopped being accepted some years ago for season tickets when we were in a perilous financial position.

basically the credit card protection scheme meant that if a club goes bust and has only fulfilled 50% (for arguments sake) of its fixtures the CC company has to reimburse half of the original cost
So to cover themselves against this potential loss they decided to release the season ticket funds to the club on a monthly basis. So there was absolutely no benefit to the club what so ever.

I do believe this is the first time that existing season ticket holders have had the June 1st deadline to guarantee their seats , last year the discount deadline was extended to allow for the expense of the playoffs.

Does this effectively mean that the CC companies still make fortunes from the interest earned on unreleased funds to the clubs.??? Thieving b*stards

Write them a 'rubber' cheque.. they'll be so busy processing applications that by the time they realise your funds haven't cleared you'll have been able to save up some cash

Curious. The website advertises that you can buy them over the phone and the pdf order form has a place for your credit card, although there is a text box saying that to reduce costs they prefer cash or cheque. Can anyone explain how you pass a cash or cheque down the phone line?

Also, the terms and conditions say you have to turn your mobile phone off during the match. Go on then, who turns theirs off?

The finance department at Burnley i think exposed this, and now don't accept CC's for Season Ticket purchases.

A post-dated Cheque seems the most sensible action at the moment for me...
