Sean Thornton

It looks like Carlisle fans are saying the same thing about Nicky Bailey this evening.

Is it more acceptable when it's one of ours?

Don't get me wrong, I loathe Thornton as much as anyone, but our star player is going to get a reputation if he carries on like this.

A bit of gamesmanship in these sort of games is always going to happen, he gets alot of rough treatment from other teams players. Although you can never condone it, Bailey will always normally stand up to a challenge.

Carlisle's players and fans were all over Bailey for cheating way before the red card though.

I didn't go today and may be doing Nicky Bailey a injustice in suggesting that he's been less than 100% honest but I have seen him over the course of the season and he has consistently gone down exceptionally easily and seems to take great delight in winding up opposition players.

I think you will find thats just modern football for you. The oposition fans will always try to get to the away teams better players, Bailey will from now on be a marked player im afraid.

Nicky was a first class professional today the guy was amazing.

Carlisle noticed he was our best player and tried to rough him up but as we all know that just isnt going to happen and once they realised it wasnt working they resorted into trying to put him out of the game where Bridge-Wilkinson got booked for taking him out although Bailey did retailiate first chance he did and got booked himself.

It wasnt long before he received a leg breaking challenge where Raven received his marching orders and from that moment on there fans were on his back booing every touch but this just spurned him on all the more when everything went through him.

MOM Mr Nicky Bailey

The photo proves what I first thought, the guy has gone in studs up over the top of the ball. Always a sending off. No doubt, though, that Bailey made a meal of it, which he seems to do pretty often, and I sometimes wonder what I'd think if it was an opposition player who did that! He didn't cheat to get someone sent off, but he does make a meal of things sometimes!

Also disappointed not to have met very many of you SZ guys at Carlisle either. Wasn't lucky enough to be as recognisable as Rich was on his crutches! If people are in the pub before Port Vale though, I'll make a point of coming along so that I can finally meet some of you.

love having bailey in our side, not only is he a great player but a right wind up merchant, moans a lot and constantly gets fouled. can't remember the last time we've had a player like him but he's something special! the pic proves it was a certain sending off!

He wasn't doing it at the start of the season, but also wasn't getting the free kicks. I think he's looked at it and other players like thornton, who goes down easily and thought thats how to get free kicks in our division, when the refs are crap.

From what I just saw on the tele , the Carlisle player made a two footed lunge with studs showing and made contact with Bailey , whereas Thornton was fully in the air when Macca was still a yard away from him.

Agree Bailey is a bit of a diver and if he stays with us , I would like to see him eradicate this aspect of his game next season and concentrate on his distribution .

To be honest not burying Gillingham on boxing day was definitely 2 points lost and that cost us more than Thorntons 'antics'.

P.S. i still think hes still a ****!

Looking back over the season there are so many games that we dominated but didn't win - Brighton away , Millwall away Gillingham (as you say) spring to mind , but over a season you expect this .

We also had to put up with Leon Clarke's tantrums which cost us at Forest and Donny ( and maybe Swansea away ? )

What rankles is that the to$$er Thornton was simply a case of outright cheating and I am still convinced he cost us 3 vital points that day

good to have player competing on all levels ..... the sending off gave us the last part of the second half .... well played Bailey.
