New Signing Sam Austin Signs

What an absolutely superb signing that is. Not sure what I'm more impressed with - the player himself, or the fact that any leaks were clearly plugged!

I can see some folks are being negative already because of "stats", but let's be honest:

  • Signed from the level above (how many people on here have been desperate for a signing from a level above?)
  • In his prime
  • A free transfer
  • Played a pivotal role in the promotion of probably one of the top two teams to ever grace this division
  • A proven winner with experience of getting up out of this division
  • Spent a lot of time at Notts playing a similar style of football to us, albeit more successfully, so should fit in well in that respect

I honestly don't know what there is to dislike.

Here's hoping he stomps a mudhole the opposition and walks it dry.
100% this, well said James

Great news and well done to the club. Welcome Sam Austin, proven in this division, experience, and knows where the onion bag is so can pitch in with a few. Looks like he can find the pockets and be in the right place at the right time. Now go and secure Ludwig Francilette 👍 :LoyalSupporter::Happy:

Seems like a very good signing indeed. Does anyone know how tall he is? One site says 1.82m which is just shy of 6 foot. We could do with a bit more height in midfield so combined with his ability makes me feel really positive.
Leon is 6’3 so we have height

I see lots of talk about the signings York and Carlisle have been making. I’m not saying they havnt made good signings, they have but if either had made this signing we’d all be scratching our heads asking why aren’t we getting this type of player in. For me Slav is possibly working progress and may well turn out to be a gem. This guy is different. He knows this league, he has been in a promotion side that’s got out this league and was a fundamental part of not only the squad but the starting 11. I think this is a key signing fir us and just what we need

Hopefully he will help our younger players out on the pitch with his experience someone to look up to especially if we’re not on top of a game

Don't forget we could potentially lose Forson and Coker.

The Austin move makes even more sense if we were to lose one of those, but even more so if we lose both.
Hopefully not! Having Austin with us, will make a huge difference and really strengthen us in that area, especially if we pick up one or two injuries or suspension in this area, our midfielders will keep going at the same level.

We still need a central defender (or two), LB (younger and pacy) and an extra striker (apparently we put in an offer for Eastbourne striker).

Well thats my midfield general taken care off ,now for CDs to be taken care off ,As bonne gone then pro contract for Jack Stone will take care off that ,then a LB / LWB. Very happy with that signing welcome Sam from one decent club to another you have come.
