New Signing Sam Austin Signs

Seems like a very good signing indeed. Does anyone know how tall he is? One site says 1.82m which is just shy of 6 foot. We could do with a bit more height in midfield so combined with his ability makes me feel really positive.

There's a far old chunk of posters on here saying this is an 'out of the blue' signing. Well, it is for us, but I would imagine that the Club have been really chasing this one down for some time as it posts an example of our ambition this season. It certainly looks like the leakage of names has been well and truly plugged, and long may it continue. I wonder how many more decent names will appear before the off?.

What an absolutely superb signing that is. Not sure what I'm more impressed with - the player himself, or the fact that any leaks were clearly plugged!

I can see some folks are being negative already because of "stats", but let's be honest:

• Signed from the level above (how many people on here have been desperate for a signing from a level above?)
• In his prime
• A free transfer
• Played a pivotal role in the promotion of probably one of the top two teams to ever grace this division
• A proven winner with experience of getting up out of this division
• Spent a lot of time at Notts playing a similar style of football to us, albeit more successfully, so should fit in well in that respect

I honestly don't know what there is to dislike.

Here's hoping he stomps a mudhole the opposition and walks it dry.

Seems to me he plays similar position to Cashman but is a proven performer at our level and above? AKA an upgrade

This feels like an ideal signing. Promoted from the division and then a regular in a competitive L2 side. And arrives with the backing of the fans of that club. What more could you want? Oh…more goals because Wikipedia tells you he’s a ‘winger’. This, combined with Spasov suggests the club is getting it right - balancing proven experience with ‘upside potential’

A number of posters (including me) have been saying the midfield is the key to helping the strikers & protecting the defence (as well as giving them someone/some space to pass to) ....... let's see how Austin helps with that. [smiling face]
