Safe standing

Do you support safe standing?

So per the trust meetings it looks like the angle of the Fossetts stands is going to be too steep for the safe standing rails.

Whilst Im pleased to hear that the stadium will have steep stands, its disappointing that safe standing rails as they are wouldnt fit.

Hopefully there will be other versions that will be compatible.

It doesn't say too steep....

He (SK) "explained that he supported the idea but the angle of the stands don’t permit the current “rail seats” that, if passed, would be required for “safe standing”. The consultation has a long way to go, so, whilst in principle SK supports it, he wants fans to understand that, as plans are – and re-designing these would mean going back for planning etc – the current designs would not work for the rail seats."

Well I was at York today and both ends behind the goals are standing, but we managed to get through the game without any loss of life or broken limbs.

The problems with standing areas are overcrowding, crowd surges and poorly maintained terracing and railings. I'd guess the away end at York would be restricted to holding 1200 supporters and don't see why safe standing areas can't be introduced in to brand new stadiums. As long as you have plenty room per person and have to buy a ticket specifically for that area, there shouldn't be a problem in this day and age.

Back in the news today. Lib Dems saying they'll look to bring it in if they get in to power. Of course, they won't *win* the general election, but have a good chance of being in government, whether with Labour or the Conservatives.

Cue usual rants from Scousers about it being disrespectful to the memory of those who died at Hillsborough...

Bump.

Plans for Fossett's farm as still not finalised and while there is currently no provision to install safe standing areas this is the sort of thing we can push for on Friday.

Do hope so,it does work very, very well in Germany.
If you go to lower German grounds, (div 3)the still havestanding like we used to have in the 70s...Bring back standing

they can do it fine in Germany, i'm sure we could manage it here

i stood at Bayern the first time i went there, no problems.
it's all about the actual cause of trouble - standing in and of itself was not what caused those deaths. there are hundreds if not thousands of football matches every week where people stand and people don't die.
in Germany they have crowds as big or bigger than we have here with a certain amount of standing and they do it fine. we should be able to as well.

my mum was at the Southend Liverpool game in 79 (well before i was born) and she said it was an accident waiting to happen. she said that wasn't an unusual experience with many more people allowed in than should have been plus no real attempt to control what was happening. it's these things that caused the deaths - bad organisation, not standing

Absolutely ludicrous that someone can't stand safely at a Southend match but can at a Scottish match. Or a rugby match. Or a non-league match. Or a gig.

Fortunately now we are free from the tyranny of the EU this will be the sort of thing that the government will legalise.

There are bits of R'Hall that would be OK to stand, South Lower for example, south corner of the East, probably fit maybe 50 in there.

Is it not the campaigners from the Hillsborough disaster who are very anti this? And with the amount of media coverage that gets and the FA treading on egg shells around them I can't see it happening in England for a while.

Nowt to do with the EU,its British law,but Jocks can now stand??

I notice there's been a few arguments between the spammers at their new London Stadium regarding people standing. I feel this subject will be back on the agenda.

that was good U.L.
Im sure its only a matter of time and we will have safe standing back...thank God.
Im too old now, would rather sit,but younger fans would rather stand im sure
