Club have confirmed Ryan Leonard still has a year to go on his contract. And, according to Phil Brown, he could play a key part next year.

Well, that's good news as far as I am concerned. We must have had that wrong on the sticky about contracts then.

Hoorah!

Let's hope the club are working on an extension.

Now's the time to get him signed up on a longer, incentive driven deal. Leonard is posed for a breakthrough season and is likely to be a lot harder and more expensive to sign on a longer term deal next year, particularly if he continues his recent goalscoring exploits.

Well run clubs are thinking a season or two in advance and not leaving things to the last minute. Offering him a new deal now demonstrates loyalty and commitment, it offers him security and we can make sure it's financially viable for us.

Splits opinion. I actually think he's too slow, gets over run, especially when in a more central position. Apart from the long throw, I don't get it.
Not according to CP!

Who do you think is the fastest Blues player over 10m, 30m & 40m? Same player for every answer.

Well done to @G_Farrell for the first correct answer. It is Ryan Leonard.

Here is the problem.

Did you know he is the quickest player in the team over 10m, 20m and 40m?

I reckon that was done whilst Timlin was out with a broken leg, but that doesn't negate the point that Leonard's a good athlete. I've raved before about his ability to break into the penalty box.

Still can not make my mind up on the fella, never a massive fan but a couple of his performances last season got me thinking otherwise, full back would be the position I would like to see him play at.

Technically very good with a fairly comprehensive understanding of the game, and one of the better athletes at our disposal. Whilst I'd probably agree his future is best served at full-back (and, subsequently, why I think losing Corr/Timlin would be a far bigger loss than Clohessy), one of Leonard's best attributes is his versatility/malleability. With the right coaching, we could mould him into pretty much whatever we need.

Whilst I don't disagree that he'd be a good full-back, there's a lot more value in developing goalscoring midfielders.

Hasn't Leonard got one of the best win ratio's in the side over the past two seasons?!?! May be wrong, not sure if anyone has the stats out there!!!

Yes, it would be good to see him in the team next year ........... his weakness is that he has spent too much time out with injury.

He could be a very good player for us if (and what an if it is) we get the midfield balance right.

And I think his long throw is a weakness because it tends to get over used once we are in the opposition half. There is more to attacking than winning throw-ins near the penalty box and then launching the ball into the box.

This season when he played we won 40% when he was in the team and last season we won 61% when he was in the team.

I thought they were looking to move?

Haven't we just offered Bentley a 3 year deal? Does that mean we're well run?
