Rules Are Rules. Unless You're Portsmouth.

shocking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! poor post

What was wrong with it, then? I'm always open to criticism...

Respect to Roy Keane today.

In his press conference at Ipswich, he was asked if he thinks Pompey should be allowed to sell players. He said "I don't like to see clubs like Portsmouth in trouble, but what about other teams? What about Southend? They've just had to get on with it and deal with it. They can't sell players. Why should Portsmouth be any different?"

He's gone up a notch or two in my estimation.

Indeed, if you can get past the occasional red-mist-rant, then an awful lot of what comes out of Roy Keane's mouth is common sense. Portsmouth have no God given right to usurp the rules because they're in the Premier League and it would've set a dangerous precedent, mounting to the transfer window being abolished.

Not saying that it would be a bad thing necessarily, but it shouldn't fall victim to a club that massively over spent beyond its means in the pursuit of glory.

I've a lot of time for Roy Keane, he stuck to his principles over the World Cup shenanigans with McCarthy, slated the plastic Man U fans that were stopping long-standing (ultimately working class fans) from getting tickets, gave his considered opinion of that Thierry Henry goal instead of ******* up to the potato munchers like the rest of the football world (UEFA/FIFA apart obviously) and now makes mention of this .. good lad Keano

And now it comes to this ...

West Ham's new owners have offered Portsmouth a £10m 'gift' to help them stave off liquidation. Of course, West Ham losing six points and sinking to the bottom of the Premier League should Pompey's record be expunged has nothing to do with it ....

Literally buying points. How grubby and thoroughly repugnant England's so-called top flight has become.

West Ham really are repugnant. They would actually lose 4 points not 6.
