All due respects, but European games are all relative. He only got those games because he plays in the Irish league. There are players in Malta (where I live) that get European games every year, play regularly for their national squad... but I reckon most would struggle in the Conference or League 2.[b said:Quote[/b] (Pablo @ Jan. 04 2007,11:07)]By the looks of it Southend are not exactly "championship" standard either......[b said:Quote[/b] (EastStandBlue @ Jan. 04 2007,10:04)]In all honesty, He's no real experience playing at Championship level and its pretty safe to say the standard is considerably higher over here.[b said:Quote[/b] (Pablo @ Jan. 04 2007,10:01)]Yeah no doubt that stung and is still stinging. What would you expects to pay for an Under 21 and B international?
For a highly rated player who represents at a 'B' international level i'd be disapointed if we went above £500k considering hes untested.
Roy has many caps at various international levels, 10 European hames under his belt in the last 2 seasons etc etc
And Kevin Doyle didnt find the "jump" too difficult did he?
Realistically i'd say we'd let him go for around 400k. Ideally he's a 500k+ player.[b said:Quote[/b] (Smiffy @ Jan. 04 2007,10:21)]So how much do you feel would be a 'reasonable' offer for O'Donovan, Pablo?
indeed they are reletive, but we've made huge strides since the game went fully pro over here.[b said:Quote[/b] (overseas shrimper @ Jan. 04 2007,10:24)]All due respects, but European games are all relative. As I said, we appear to be the only club willing to take a gamble and make a firm bid for him rather than offer him a trial. At 21, and unproven over here, 500k plus is too steep. 400k not bad, 300-350k probably more realistic.[b said:Quote[/b] (Pablo @ Jan. 04 2007,10:25)]Realistically i'd say we'd let him go for around 400k. If he does well with you, which i reckon he would, he'll go to a bigger Club so we should have a sell on clause like we do with Doyler.
With around 10 clubs supposedly interested in him i hope it sparks a bit of an auction! We've lost a lot of players in the transfer window so we need to rebuild.
He's a striker, who filled in on the right side of midfield when we sold Kevin Doyle. We moved him back up front last season and he started scoring from everywhere![b said:Quote[/b] (Dave the Shrimper @ Jan. 04 2007,10:29)]Pablo,
Can you give us an idea what sort of player he is....Strengths and Weakness's etc etc

Of course we are, just been a bit unlucky[b said:Quote[/b] (Pablo @ Jan. 04 2007,10:07)]By the looks of it Southend are not exactly "championship" standard either......

Fastest player i've ever seen i'd say we're talking 100m in 10 secs with Roy. And he has an eye for goal.
Always says the right things on TV and Radio so the fans love him.
Weakness'.................Very passionate fella so he's a bit hot headed at time, that seems to have left him of late though
Its hard to say as they are different. No doubt Doyle was special. Roy has devastating pace and a great finish. Doyle was a work horse, but a work horse with skill and the ability to ghost into the box for goals. 1 to 11 that team was special and its slowly being broken up.[b said:Quote[/b] (Dave the Shrimper @ Jan. 04 2007,10:36)]Cheers,[b said:Quote[/b] (Pablo @ Jan. 04 2007,10:33)]He's a striker, who filled in on the right side of midfield when we sold Kevin Doyle. Given the choice who would you prefer Doyle or O Dononvan.
Whatever happened with all the pre-season interest rumoured for George O'Callaghan. I see he's still with you, but there was much talk of many clubs lurking around him & he was supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread[b said:Quote[/b] (Pablo @ Jan. 04 2007,10:25)]With around 10 clubs supposedly interested in him i hope it sparks a bit of an auction! He's training with Ipswich for the last 3 months. Seemingly they are negotiating a fee at the moment[b said:Quote[/b] (Hooly @ Jan. 04 2007,11:31)]Whatever happened with all the pre-season interest rumoured for George O'Callaghan. Did he get priced out of a move or did no one actually come in for him?
Cheers Pablo. That's what I thought I'd heard, but as he wasn't on their squad list but was on your's I wondered if it all fel through.[b said:Quote[/b] (Pablo @ Jan. 04 2007,11:41)]He's training with Ipswich for the last 3 months. Seemingly they are negotiating a fee at the moment
Ipswich have really annoyed our manager it seems. They are acting a bit out of order and trying to get him on loan now. The worlds longest trial![b said:Quote[/b] (Hooly @ Jan. 04 2007,11:53)]Cheers Pablo. But looking at your site I see that your season is different to ours so it makes more sense now. 3 months to look at a player who so many were (reportedly) interested in does seem a bit steep though.
