Has to be Robert Smith. Just been listening to the live version of 'Pictures Of You'. Just superb.

I always thought it was Izzy Stradlin who wrote most of Guns n Roses songs, I maybe wrong though.

As a songwriter Robert Smith should win this hands down and i really liked The Cure

Guns n' Roses were THE band of my late teenage years so gotta go for Axl

can't say I've heard Estranged.

Don't bother. Self-indulgent twaddle.

I love plenty of GNR songs, but "Boys Don't Cry" by The Cure wins this on its own.

Incidentally, how much of the song writing credit for GNR goes to Axl and how much to Slash? Genuine question.

Rock is my favourite genre of music generally but in this instance having listened to 'Staring at the sea' last week I can only go for RS on this one

Good work, Robert.

The thing that I always admired about the Cure is that, when they needed to (to keep their label happy), they could churn out a cheesy pop classic to bring in the dough (e.g. Lovecats, Friday I'm in love) - so that they could then get back to writing the stuff they loved.

So many good albums - Staring at the Sea is a belter (I've always loved the darkness of "A Forest"), but my personal favourite is "Head on the Door".

Cheerio, Axl.

Sod it I was on hol!! AXL wrote all the music estranged is the greatest song of all time as well as some gems on the new album **** and this I love! Fair play I lost however the cure are ****
