Breaking News Ron speaks

What sort of players are we likely to sign. Surely most decent players are under contracts until the summer. Do we have money to buy players?
Loans perhaps? anyone know how many you are allowed at one time?

I agree with, and applaud, his statement. Now I want to see action. The team sheet, for our next match, should not include any player that is not trying or is subversive. If that means a side stacked with youths then sobeit. Let the fans get behind a team that wants to play for us.

Seriously have to question who the people wanting Sol gone already are expecting, Sol's a rookie manager and is going to make mistakes but the important thing is that he's new enough to this to not be set in his ways. We're not an attractive club, if you expect the perfect manager to come here you need to check where we are in the table.

Given Ron is never one to admit any type of fault, I think that’s a pretty fair and honest statement.

Ron is pumping in £200,000 per month to keep the club afloat. If, like some of you, he decides to chuck teddy in the corner.......Then we will be in trouble.

Where does he get the money from though?

From what I understand, he’s not rich. He’s got various assets & companies, but he’s not got a Scrooge McDuck style vault inside Martin Towers.

So where exactly does this £200k come from?

And on top of that, where does the money come from to sign player after player?

How is that any of our business?

I agree with this.
We all( mostly ) agree that we will be relegated, so in that sense , this season really doesn’t matter.
Other the fact of their confidence being knocked , I would rather see a bunch of youngsters ( plus any senior players who are giving everything- as they all should ).
If there really are divisive factions, then I’m sure all the squad know who they are and all will be happier when they’ve gone

I have no idea about Rons cash flow situation. Anyone who claims they do is a liar.

At a guess I would say he is taking out loans against the value of RH. Probably why he is being so nice about the council. If they say no, then we will all really be in it together.......Those that would prefer Lakeside, morris dancing or slices of battenberg and milky week tea round her nans on on Saturday afternoon..... Will get their wish.....Permanently.

Now for the positive bit......If from Ron down we now admit our pre season for 20/21 starts now. Then we can plan accordingly rather than chuck more good money down the black hole of over payed footballers and agents....Especially in football silly season, January.

I dont mind the bad eggs going but lets invest for next season rather than journey man wage grabbers.

A great example of what a bit of future planning, patience and forgiving does....Hutch. Many dismissed him earlier in the season. On Saturday I told a couple of first time this season shrimpers he should be starting instead of McL.......Who on here didn't think he should be on at HT? Who on here didn't think he was our most effective player when he did get on?

Sacking everyone isn't always the answer. Ron has tried that himself in recent years. The club is now in a far worse position because of it.
.

How are most things any of our business.

A forum is our way of commentating on what we see and hear on a daily basis. Whether it's Harry Lennon's drinking habits, Sol Campbell's selection policy or Ron's dreams of FF.

Nothing on here is taken seriously by anyone actually making the decisions.

This place is just a vehicle to discuss and let off a bit of steam.

I've said it before, Powell wanted to keep Wordsworth - but as a LM, which Woody wasn't prepared to do. He, Ferdinand, Coker and Cox were close and all the others have left. Ron could be talking about any of them, personally, of those, I'd go with Ferdinand, who I think Powell found tough to deal with - plus Ranger and Timlin.

I’d hope that someone will post up a transcript of what Sol said at the AGM tonight? It’ll be interesting to see whether he has said anything similar to Ron’s statement.

There will be a report over at some time, as I didn't do it on this occasion, I am not sure exactly when.

Sol was certainly quite open in his responses, he wouldn't criticise individuals but he was quite damning in the recent recruitment.

Indeed. Therefore my reply should be seen in the same light, shouldn’t it?

What I’d be interested to know is whether Sol is picking players he knows aren’t the ones he wants long term, purely because he doesn’t feel he has an option. I think the selection of Taylor was telling, vs Oxford. I think once he gets a few of his own players in, certain players getting game time now will be swiftly benched. Is he giving some players the chance to shine and prove him wrong? @OldBlueLady any hints there? Or over formations?

I wondered where Cox was on Saturday....

yet a family friend according to the Anton piece in the guardian (iirc) posted on here the other week....

He said he likes using wingers, and he has been very impressed with Dieng and how he's developing.

Sorry, my mistake, meant to say "all the others have left"!

I wondered if the "family friend" bit was what made it difficult. No doubting Anton was a strong player on and off the pitch, and just maybe it was that strength of character that CP found hard to deal with.

Interesting. I'm looking forward to hearing what he said. I'm surprised that nothing has been posted as yet by anyone, as usually the responses are quite candid from these events.

Ferdinands gang had his followers such as cox coker and a few star struck others ....on the other side were the non followers that didn't adhere to players being bigger than the club. It was fractious and was quelled a bit when Ferdinand went, but one of that group still remains and has caused a few issues since albeit more a team player now.
Ranger was spoke in everyones wheel and some players had patience and tried to help him and put up with his constant lateness laziness etc and others just didn't have that patience
It is now a case of senior players needing to be got rid of due to their higher earnings, influence, injuries etc. It could be the club is hoping to find some easy excuses to get rid of anyone it can without costing which could possibly create a bad atmosphere.
The squad (I believe) now mostly get on well. But imagine being one of the players at the moment.... Knowing you have to play out from the back or be castigated, knowing the crowd don't want that generally at the moment, any mistake highlighted 100 fold. Waiting for the boos. Losing every week. Knowing youre not wanted (in the case of allegedlly 5 seniors).
I hope im wrong about all that...

In the Football League, teams can make as many as eight loan signings but can only include a maximum of five of them in their matchday squad. EFL clubs can have up to four players from the same club - but only two of them can be over the age of 23.
