Ron Martin is a legend........

Over the past couple of years or so i have sent and received various e-mails on various subjects with Uncle Ron....and i kind of sometimes forget that he is the chairman of my football club and just feel that i am talking to a like minded true Blues fan, but then again thinking about......... it I am.

The guys is legend for what he has done......is doing.... and will be doing for our club, he is totally committed to the club and its future, sometimes in business i guess decisions have to be taken for the future as appose to the "Now" and that is were Ron excels.

I received a lovely e-mail from Ron tonight.....talking about the unfortunate set of circumstances regards the Clarke and Morgan signings and how the club were totally committed to bringing them in Permanently but due to issues out of Southend's control could not and just how committed he and ST were at getting desperately needed strikers for the club

For a busy Chairman of a football club to actually take time out to e-mail back to a far flung supporter discussing issues such as signings and plans for the future at the club for me is totally fantastic and refreshing.

As far as i am concerned.....Ron you are a legend and I know you have the interest of the club at your heart, as is apparent to most folk, I just wanted remind folk during this unease of signing speculations that we have a manager and chairman who are committed to the club, its success and future.

Keep up the good work Ron and keep the faith with ST and the club.

Having been through the days of Anton Johnson and the Vic Jobson, which provided more downs than iups imo, and the persistant underachievement under the caring but sterile tenure of Bill Rubin, it is refreshing to see a guy willing to make an attempt to communicate with fans and at least make statements that appear genuine and come over with feeling.

I know there are a minority that have doubts, but I'd like to think Ron is the guy to finally drive the club onto competing in the second tier of English football on a consistent basis, which I believe a town of this size and catchement area can support and should have had well over 25 years ago,

Totally agree the Clarke scenario was unfortunate and although initially it looked liked we had found one of the last pieces of the jigsaw, time revielled his true colours and so T&B and Ron have had to go back to square one. We are not a big club money is tight and all concerned included we the supporters have to be patient for the right man or men to come alone. Hopefully Morgan is that man and I for one am incouraged and prepared to give him a chance especially after reading the Yeovil fanzie comments.

Good thread Aberdeen, and completely agree with the above post. After AJ and VJ, RM is a godsend!

we'll see... won't we.

J, here is an old question but I'm not sure if I've had the pleasure of reading your response so I will ask it again:

If Ron is only in this for the money, and is only building us a new stadium because it is a pre-condition of the development of Roots Hall, then why did he increase the size of the proposed stadium by several thousand? Surely it would be in his interest to build the smallest possible stadium at the least expense to maximise his profit?

I think we're incredibly lucky to have Ron Martin here, especially when you consider how badly it could have turned out when we were bought up by a property developer and were forced to sell the ground to pay off the debts that the previous regime had created.

My only concern is what happens if the new ground doesn't get the green light. The bottom line is that Martin Dawn only got involved in this football club to profit from moving the club and the redevelopment of the two sites. If that doesn't happen then why are they here?

I couldn't have put it better myself Beefy ... i have every faith that Ron Martin will do his utmost to keep to the promises he has made, but am scared sh!tless about what may happen if FF gets booted out

I hope and pray we do get the go-ahead

I think we have.

You can't judge people by future expectations, but you can judge people by past experience.

Appologies if the above is just a little too deep for this time of night.

Hmmm... i think i agree.. scum!

we'll see, if in 3 years time we are riding high in the championship in a new stadium in front of 20,000, then yes the man has done well.

We'll see if he's actions do speak louder than words..

let's hope he reads this thread.

Adding to that, the extra cost of building such a futuristic design, as opposed to a big tin pot, is enormous. If it was all about profits, the design would be as cheap as chips(well, not litteraly!)

Look, as anyone that knows me, or even reads this board, knows.... I am Ron's biggest critic, and possibly biggest dis-liker... however, recently, such things as the interview on radio, meeting with smiffy et al, and the biggest one, coming on the pitch and stating what was happening, and apologising for the recent weeks.. well, that in my book, is top draw. Long may it continue, however, i really wish i could be 100% confident our club is safe with him.. getting there, slowly, just not yet. As i said, we will see what happens, the next year is massive for him and this club.
