Ron backs Tilly - BBC News Website..

Interesting... more so about FF, which is confirmed 'delayed 10-12 months' - which I imagine could continue to slip the longer the crunch continues.

Great to hear this from the horses mouth. It was all we wanted Ron. We all knew it was down to the economic downturn and I am sure most can sympathise with him here. Nice also to hear comments about his relationship with Tilly. Say what you want about Ron and/or Tilson but at the moment their relationship and managerial stature is what is holding this club together. Nothing worse than a knee jerk reaction. If we were in the prem, Tilly would be long gone now. Thank good there is longevity at this club, it's what keeps everyone going when times are hard. RM - Ledge.

Thats all i need to hear, Ron backing Tilly go get us out of this mess. I dont think many managers could grind out results with all these suspentions and injuries, we jus need some new faces in the transfer window, suspended players back and start to steady the ship.

Adding to this the last thing the club needs is for Tilson to go/ be sacked. It would be a grave error by Ron to lose such an up and coming manager. His still only 42 and learning.

Another good interview from Ron. Agree with J it's worrying as it is a vote of confidence of sorts. It worries me a little that Ron seems very anti consolidation, when sometimes that's what needs to happen. I hope that in itself wouldn't get Tilly sacked should we ever drop out of League One, as League One is our level, currently.

Surely this kind of news needs a bigger bit at the end of a story on the echo website. RM does himself NO favours at times!

Chelsea didn't want to let him go out for a year?

Yes they did. If you listen to Ron on the audio interview of the link he clearly says that Chelsea were willing to let him go for a year's loan. Ron (and I guess Tilly) decided that 3 months would be a better bet because they didn't know if he's work out or not. It was after he proved himself that Ron then spoke to Kenyon about extending the loan and Chelsea no longer wanted to loan him to us as he had proved himself enough to probably get a loan deal at a Championship club.

We sign players on proper contracts and you still don't know how things go, so why not a year long loan for a player rated by Chelsea?

My only guess is that his wages were comparatively high for a year long commitment?

Sawyer said in his bit in the Chelsea programme that Tilly didn't know much about him when he signed. I guess that we didn't want to commit a years worth of money on one player without seeing him first.

I'm sure we all remember before Sawyer's first game when an interview with Tilly was played around the ground and he said that Sawyer was young and not really ready for first team football!

Speaking of that, whatever happened to interviews being played before the game? Another idea that has bitten the dust straight away. Just like the giving away of a signed ball before every home game to the person who answered their mobile phone. Although that was a terrible idea anyway.
