Ring of Fire

Most teams, even in the Prem don't have any decent unique songs. YNWA, Bubbles and Fields of Anfield Road are the only few which you can hear at grounds in the UK. I'd say Liverpool and Man U are the fw teams in the Prem who have unique songs to other teams

I'd say 98% of teams in the Football League sing the exact same songs e.g Blue/Red/Yellow etc army, We love you southend/portsmouth/palace etc we do. Barmy army and many others

Other teams that have known to sing a version of 'Ring of Fire' include Liverpool (started in 2002, played in the dressing room before the Champions League Final in 2005), Cardiff City (played when they score at home), Hearts (played before each game), Hereford United (started in 2005 and sung by the players when they won the Conference play-offs), Everton, Manchester United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Coventry City. Further afield we have NHL's Calgary Flames (their victory song), WHL's Saskatoon Blades (their victory song), Adelaide United (in honour of player Nathan Burns), Valencia CF (one of their ultra groups sing it; they also sing OMD's Enola Gay) and Hercules CF.

I think Southend United got in late on the craze! ;)

Not to mention Celtic. With the lyrics "Paul Le Guen's gonna win f**k all..."

Marching on Together at Leeds, Cardiff have a song that only they sing (I think) but I cant remember whats it called.

Any others anyone can think of?

I admit there are a few from other clubs, but even they are beginning to sing more of the boring songs and less of their unique ones.

Delilah anyone?

Ring of Fire being sung by our fans is rapidly destroying my enjoyment of the original. As said, it's better than no singing but why is there no singing anyway?

i went to a game at the emirates recently and was annoyed to hear "ring of fire" playing at half time. why can't we have our own song, surely this will bring the supporters together.

... Burnley game was awful last night until the 90th minute!!

Dont Stoke sing Delilah or something ? Wonder why ?
I'd like to hear everyone singing at home games when Freddy scores "who's that scoring down at the Hall ? Its Freddy Eastwood, Its Freddy Eastwood" to the tune of "whats that coming over the hill ? Is it a Monster ? Is it a monster?":)

Thats the latest modern song to get pulled apart by every other football league club, no thanks.

At least our 'aaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaa it's Darryl' (previosuly it's Sammy/Roycie) as he takes a goal kick is original, I can't recall an opposing team shouting that out for their keeper! (although I suppose it isn't really a song).

Perhaps other teams think it is counter productive to put off your own goal keeper as he takes a goal kick!

There was a piece on The Championship the other week about Stockport County, when they set a new Football League record for consecutive wins with a clean sheet, and their fans claimed on that that they had more unique songs for their football club than any other set of supporters!

Ring of Fire was played at Cardiff before our game there, knowing that it is their goal celebration when we scored our fans took great delight in doing their own version to wind up the locals

The STC's attempts to bring 'Young Girl' by The Union Gap to the terraces had some modicum of success about five or six years ago (RIP Rev Bob); I remember a particularly good rendition at York City one very cold and overcast afternoon (holding the first note for about 30 seconds), a strange day that included The Hound playing a drum, his arch nemesis at football, and the STC lining up a wall on the terrace behind the goal for a free-kick that was to be taken by (I think) Scott Forbes; as usual, the ball hit the wall ... our wall. Great days ...

I agree that we should have more of our own original songs, but in the two away games i've been to since christmas (Stoke and Ipswich) that seems to be the one that everybody gets involved in. At the moment the more vocal the fans are the better regardless of what they are singing, within reason lol.

Johny Cash also does a song called 'home of the blues', not as catchy a tune for day trippers to pick up on as ring of fire but it least it plays reference to the colour of our strip!

If we get any derogoratory chanting aimed at us from our northern friends on saturday, then we should reply with our own version of their favourite 'Marching on together' anthem.
Our words being 'Marching on to Brighton, Doncaster & Crewe, na na na na na na!.

Ring of Fire is much better if the words Kevin Maher are inserted at the end of the line. I tried it on Tuesday but strangely enough Leeboy and Beaver failed to follow my lead. :D

I certainly know that everyone I work with would be more than happy to see Ring of Fire banned seeing as I've spent the entire last week humming it to myself.

Speaking of Ring of Fire
