Ridiculous Rumour 2

If Laurent had scored his sitter, Paterson would've been integral in winning the game for us. For what it's worth, I was very impressed by Paterson's all round play at the weekend... He has vision, a nice touch and links up play well with the midfield. He'll be a very important player for us.

Hopefully Paterson will get match fit and know the players quickly. He looked OK but I had just one gripe. Why cannot players who have been playing foorball with a pro set up since about 8 kick with their left foot. When he was through on goal he needed to put his left through the ball in to the bottom right hand corner. Not diffcult. He runs round the ball to hit it with his right and missed at the near post where he just isn't going to score.
Same with Scannel, he just cannot use his left.
Look George Best practiced incessantly until his weaker foot was a good as his stronger one. If it was good enough for him it's good enough for players at this level.

Not JFC's biggest fan but I would be against any sale as the squad is so paper thin as it already. Cant see any money recieved being spent again so really be sad to see him go.

That is pretty funny. Depending on the amount, I'd go for it. Christophe could actually get into the premiership if this transfer happens. You just know it!

Oh please let it be true! If ever a squad needs drastic 'freshening up' its this one. We have too many 'yeh but he's got so much potential' type of player - who rarely delivers a match winning preformance and Laurent is No. 1 in this category. Add Grant, Mousa & JFC and thats a midfield that could you down! Mix in a makeshift defence, sell your leading scorer and replace him with someone who puts in the most inefective debut I've ever seen and thats a mix that WILL take you down!

I agree, it's high time this Paterson chappy was shipped out. He's had his chance. Of course when at some point in the future he turns out against us I will demand to know why he wasn't given more of a chance with us.
If anyone points out that I criticised him when he was with us, I will strongly deny it and demand they take off their rose-tinted specs and remove their head from Ron Martin's backside.

i think the whole thread is a wind up been looking in my copy of the sun and cant see the affore mentioned rumours!

Page 21 of the football pull out section. They have a 'gossip' section for Championship leagues and below !!

Laurent could be playing in the Champions League if there is any truth in the story - hahaha

Amazing! Every player is crap according to the fans and then when they move on and are successful its tillys fault for not seeing the potential. JFC is capable if not low on confidence. In essence I feel he should be played as an out and out attacking mid and we may then see the best of him. As for Laurent, he may not be Mr. consistent at the moment but he still has time to progress and come to hand. IMO he is not a winger, whatever he says, he is a striker and if he did a bit more of his clever runs on the ball in and around the box he would score, provide goals and earn countless free-kicks and penalties. If he had a regular run up front, bagged a few goals, he would never want the wing again.

Its been said above but thats just about the total opposite of what JFC is about.

He strengths are surely winning the ball and breaking up play, I cant seen any reason why he should be an attacking midfielder and plenty why he should be a defensive player.

He needs to be able to win the ball for us and lay it off to a creative player or two, which is where it all falls apart...

Was gonna say myself!? What do some people see when they watch football? JFC rarely gets over the half-way line, let alone be a creative attacking 'force'.

For what its worth, I really like JFC and would rather have him and Grant in CM than McCormack.

If both of them leave then we are screwed, we can't afford to lose anymore players. Can't believe Celtic and wolves are interested in Laurent? What the hell, i would understand a championship team but not that far. Laurent is one of our most creative players in our team, and JFC is a needed midfielder. I want them to stay if the rumour is true.

I can understand why Laurent is rumoured to be attracting interest from bigger Clubs, maybe not by the size of the Clubs mentioned. On his day, he is unplayable. Think of Leeds at home last season, Stockport away this season and Hartlepool at home this season. That is Championship form at the least, but its the performances inbetween that will prevent him from playing at the top level. He has the skills, but like most wingers, lacks the consistency.

JFC, I'm a fan. He is a better footballer without the ball then he is with it. He reads the game so well, intercepts, tackles and breaks up opponents attacks. Basically he does the ugly side of the game, and its a side that doesn't get the credit it deserves.

He needs a creative player alongside him. Think back to his form during his loan spell alongside Sawyer, he was superb. He'd win the ball, give it to Sawyer and let him play his football. Its what he does.

He obviously has something about him that would attract interest, Portsmouth wouldn't have paid money for him if he wasn't a good player.

I actually think that Laurent is the type of player who could thrive at a higher level. JFC not so much.
