Ricketts Loses Appeal

biggrin.gif

Bit of justice then!

2 match? Surely the ban should be extended because the appeal was frivolous?

can anyone clarify why he got a 2 match ban?

I thought it was 3 for instant dismissal

also the fact he didnt leave the pitch immediatly after the red card was shown

Angell Delight can you shed some light being the all knowing referee that you are

Forget frivolous, I thought a straight red card was a three match ban?

Isn't that for violent conduct ...

2 match Foul and abusive

Not sure about Denying a Goalscoring opportunity

Unfortunately this does not mean that he was not racially abused . It just means that in the lack of evidence the assitance referees view has been upheld.

And If that was for the finger gesture then it was wrong....

Yep the racial abuse and the gesture made by Ricketts are being dealt with as two different incidents. Rickets has got the ban due to him making the gesture. But the racial abuse claim is still ongoing. So we are only half way through this is so far.

Well at least he didn't get away with his stupidity. Hopefully the race allegations will be officially rejected as well

you only get a 3 match ban for violent conduct.

if you handball on the goal line or foul someone denying a goal scoring oppertunity such as being the last defender, or a nasty takle then its usually a 1 match ban.

2 yellows in 1 match will result in a 1 match ban also

Correct, Ricketts dismissal would come under the category of "foul and abusive actions" as opposed to foul and abusive language, both carry a 2-match suspension in any case.

Denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity by a foul challenge or a deliberate handball carries a one-match suspension as we all know.

Statski whether or not a player is punished for not leaving the field of play in a reasonable amount of time after dismissal is very much down to the Football Association to consider and they only do that if it is included in the referee's report, very rarely does any further sanctions come from this though anyway particularly if the players suspension is upheld.

cheers for clearing that one up for us fellas statski is now that little bit wiser when it comes to sending off's

very handy as I will be doing a referee's course soon

I agree, the assistant's seen clearly what happened and there was never any way in the world Ricketts was ever going to have it rescinded - double standards!

Bit harsh that. It was after extra time and against a Barnsley side that are flying at the moment.

I am not so sure whether this was frivolous, The appeal had to be made early, probably before they found out that there was no video footage to back up which finger was used.

If the gesture he was sent off for was a "middle finger " then the bloke is technically correct, it was wrong. However if the Lino saw the first one as well.....
