Ricketts for WBA?

palexander

Life President
I know someone posted from the horses mouth that Ricketts is '2 weeks away' from fitness, but the F365 preview of the championship games stats 'Rickets came through a behind closed doors game against Stevenage in the week and could come in to contention'...

Be nice to see him on the bench?

Actually, whats everyones team predictions for tomorrow? From the sound of Tilly this morning, we are unchanged...

.....a certain someone (or two or three) should be warming the bench tomorrow. Unchanged and we're going to get spanked.

I take it that there will be a maximum of one change. I get the feeling that that may be up front with Harrold coming in for Paynter. I see Guttridge retaining his place.

No chance for Ricketts this Saturday, maybe on the bench on Tuesday at the earliest..

I think Tilly will drop Paynter and sling The 'Ginger Ninja' into the starting 11...

I think that if Ricketts came through a minumum of 60 minutes on Wednesday (The report didn't say), he would certainly be considered for a spot on the bench tomorrow.

I don't think Tilson wants to rush him into action too soon though.

Big mistake.  Hunt in for Gutts, Hunt tasked with keeping Gera quiet.  You know it makes sense.

Matt
Don't tell me. I know it makes sense. But, Tilly is loyal to his players and I think Gutts will stay in the starting XI, for now.

Sherminator for Billy Painter for me.....

Gutts can play through his poor games I think.

I always thought that Hunt looked very poor in midfield when he had a run alongside Maher a couple of years back. Was constantly being pulled out of position when we were defending and seemed to want to take up the exact same positions as Kev when we had the ball. I'd like to see him given a go on the right where he's looked so impressive coming off the bench this season, but I'm not convinced he'd be a better option than Gutts in the middle.

Hope Harrold gets a start. He deserves it.

I think the best game he had was against Scunthorpe a couple of years back when we lost 3-2. Pulled the strings in midfield that day.

ginger ninja lol, i like it. Yes I think he should start also. I think tuesday was the first time in a long time iv seen us go gung ho on a team like that for a long period of time! Maybe we should try that v the baggies all game

Ricketts most probably will be on the bench on tuesday, would be a god game for him to come back to.

the only WBA Ricketts will see will be his Wide Big Arse

don't worry, coat is on..............

I'd like to see Paynter make way for Harrold tomorrow and I think that will be the only - if any - change. However, there is also a case for Hunt to come in and play on the right side of midfield to give us a more solid look with Maher and Gutts in the centre. If that was to happen then it would mean JCR making way.

Lets hope Gutts dosent slot the winner from 25 yards tomorrow.. The turnaround in opinion will be even quicker than the..
Harold, no fking thanks/Get the ginger hero in the starting line up now!.. switch in opinion ..

I think the club and Luke would benefit from a brief spell on the bench. He is playing well below his best and Tilson has an obligation to play his strongest team.

That said, personally I think Luke will play tomorrow, but could be rested on Tuesday when we play BHA.

I like this idea, especially for tomorrow in particular. It would give our midfield more solidity like last season and if we can go there and be resolute maybe we can nick a very impressive point at the Hawthorns.

However I can't help thinking Gutts needs a spell on the bench.

I know where you're coming from, Beefy, and in fact, a year ago I would have laughed off the suggestion of Hunt playing in midfield myself. However, I think Hunt is a much better player now than he was two seasons ago and every time he has slotted into midfield since - albeit mostly as a sub - his calmness has impressed me.

He may not have the attacking instincts of Gutts but he is assured in possession (which Gutts, quite frankly, hasn't been at all so far this season) and he will provide an extra defensive cushion alongside Maher that hopefully will free Gower and JCR a bit more.

Gutts has been a major disappointment so far this season and to me looks significantly overweight, which has obviously had a detrimental effect on his use of the ball. He needs to be dropped and given a kick up the backside, in my opinion.

As for Harrold, yep, definitely give him a start. Also, if John Hartson is fit, I'd be tempted to start Sodje ahead of Clarke too.

I'm pretty sure it'll be one change up front. Tilson's no Ranieri. I supppose he hopes Gutts will play through his bad form.

How long would you give his "bad form" to be played through? Until March when we're facing relegation? Drop him now, show his place isn't guaranteed and he's got to work his arse off to get back in the starting 11.
