is there another other colours you don't like for kits also wasn't the pink one of the highest selling away kits in clubs history

It was also the only kit, I think, where they actually did a "ladies fit" version. I just don't like pink, never have. My favourite away shirt in more recent times was the light blue with the dark blue sleeves, a Betterview sponsored one, IIRC, and which we wore under Tilson.

light blue away when the home kit is blue already is just stupid also that was the white and black away kit the betterview one which won league one back 11 years ago if I am correct

:smile:roll on this in a years time when its another kit colour oldbluelady will whinge about it probably I hate light blue away kits daft idea when home kit is already blue

I can't believe I am being trolled by Mork! :stunned:

The top I mentioned was worn with light shorts IIRC, and was perfectly fine as an alternative.

Personally, I didn't mind the pink kit, but maybe with thin dark blue stripes and possibly blue shorts, as well.

Either that, or yellow, with the same blue stripes and shorts.

Always favoured yellow as our away colour. Memories of being under pressure at Layer Road during a tense match in March 1977 as the place echoed to YELLOWS, YELLOWS - we broke away and scored. Complete bedlam ensued.

Is it time yet for my annual post where I ask the club to chose a shade of blue and style of kit and stick to it?

This is the club's branding and identity.

It should be something where people can identify it as Southend United without having to look at the badge. No changing the sleeves to white and then back to blue, no second shade of blue, no pinstripes, no changing the shorts or socks colour or white patches. Pick an identity and then stick with it. If it costs a bit more so be it. This is the club's identity.

new kits make the club revenue do they not

I personally like the fact they mix it up a bit. Helps keep it fresh and generate a bit more interest for selling them. If they were always the same they wouldnt sell as well.

Yellow is a great away colour - I'm with that!

I really liked the kit we wore against Wycombe in that final with the side stripe, very Roy of the Rover-esque'

If it's the match I'm thinking then I was there as well.

Goal scorer - Colin Morris?

Just looked it up Kev.

You're spot on - 19th March which was a Saturday, yet I remember it to be under floodlights? Can you help?

For information purposes 1-0 win; scorer: Morris; scored 2nd half; 6637 attendance; team: Freeman, Banks, Ford, Laverick, Moody, Townsend, Morris, Hadley, D. Parker, Clark, Little. Unused Sub - Young.

An early Smith team!

Indeed it was Colin Morris.
Memory tells me that they were on top in the second half. It was the first time I had heard the continuous Yellows...Yellows and it got louder as the game wore on. Just before we scored it was a chorus from about two and a half sides of Layer
Road (though the Bar Side refused to join in ; )) ) and then we scored.
I remember that British Rail laid on a sub-standard train to run from Colchester to Shenfield. It had ripped seats and the interior was pretty much wrecked. Nobody cared.
What a day!
YELLOWS...YELLOWS!!

I hope it was wrecked BEFORE "our" supporters had to use it and that this isn't another glorification of criminal behaviour?
Shame for BR either way. I can understand clearer why "football special" aren't run these days.

It was an old "out of service" train just used to ferry supporters from Colchester to Shenfield.
Football special trains used to be good business for both the railway and clubs taking large support. Possibly the fragmentation of the network may play a role in it being less common.
