Remembrance..

J

The Chameleon
Is it just as important to people now, as it was years and decades a go..

for me, this is where the country comes in to it's own..

I always, shed a tear.. and am always at the cenotaph at southend on remembrance sunday..

I feel it is important to me, as i understand the sacrifices made.. so we can live in a free world.. (well, more free than it would have a been)

any thoughts?

Did you see the FL picked out WBA v Norwich as a match 2mrw to commemorate Armistice Day?  Both teams will wear special shirts incorporating poppies.  Linky

Seeing as football seems to be waking up to it's potential of getting younger generations to respect Remberance Day etc, maybe the likes of Soccer AM should be reminded NOT to do anything disrespectful at 11am 2mrw?

It's certainly important to me - we should never forget the sacrifices made by so many. I'm lucky, both of my Grandads came home from WWII unscathed (although what memories they kept hidden away I can only imagine). Yet still it continues - how Tony Bliar has the nerve to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph while bodies of British servicemen are still being shipped back from Iraq I'll never know.

Agree totaly, I lost family in First world war and second, me Grandad was in the Battle of Alantic and also on the ships that had to travel to North Russia in the winter

I think it should always be of the up most importance. Millions of people giving their lives for us, so we can enjoy the freedoms we do today.

Couldn't put it better myself. That c%&t shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the place.

Two minutes in. Approx 45 seconds of raw footage, of the reason we are in Iraq. The kids faces says it all.
Very moving video, shed a tear seeing that. Thanks for the link.

Probably not the thread to get into this but please tell me, how is your day to day life actually better than when Tony got into power? Him and his cronies seems to have added a turbo boost to the downfall of a once great nation!

The US are waking up to what a fool Bush was for Iraq, here's hoping the UK will do so too seeing as Blair's just been Dubya's sad little lapdog!

1. Minimum Wage!
2. New Deal!

Both of these helped me! both of which we would not have had under the torys!

InfactI aint ashamed to say it I would Vote BNP on the strength of their manifest! NOT not the racist views!
UKIP are another strong option I would go for!

OK fair enough, you maybe have got me there.

But, purely to encourage debate, please tell me how it's a good thing that some lazy little no-mark (please note I am not referring to you here in any way) who is earning minimum wage has managed to get say a 30 to 40 % pay rise in the past 5 or so years whereas people like myself who worked their ar5e off at school & uni is now limited in what they can earn and can honestly consider themselves lucky to get a inflation covering rise every 2 or 3 years?

Don't really know a lot about the New Deal so cannot comment. All I know is that I was on JSA at the time Labour got in & it was fairly tricky to convince the DofE you were actively seeking work. Whether or not things have changed for the better I'm not in a position to say!

New Deal is a system where they help you back into work where by they pay the employer some of your wages to help insight them into taking you on.

Go along with that.
Sounds like a good idea where both parties benefit!

Tony Blair, complete and utter gutless w%&ker who would have some of our great leaders (Churchill for one) turning in their graves.

Maggie Thatcher was the only true leader with gutts we have had in a long time.
