Non football comment did anyone else think our remembrance service before the game was not up to its usual standards. There was no service members on the pitch no bugler actually playing live in other years we have carried out a lovely service people even started clapping before the minutes silence . Just wondering peoples thoughts.

Yeah I do agree a bit with this. Seemed rushed and the minutes silence .. as you say .. was preceded by clapping (not sure it’s meant to be). I was looking for the bugler!

Totally agree, the clapping after the last post was embarrassing. It has and always is followed by a minutes silence.

I’m surprised they have never got the local air/army/navy cadets involved in this in recent years.

Would be happy to help the club organise it being a former serviceman myself.
Although I agree, how are those who haven’t been to Remembrance Day games before supposed to know the protocol? Even Jeacock started running towards his own goal after the last post and had to be called back! All it needed was a clear loud speaker announcement beforehand making expectations clear.

I do agree with the rest of your post, I was disappointed that the last post wasn’t played live, I can’t recall another occasion we’ve had a recording?

One of my mates who has a season ticket in my row is a good cornet player and said he'd play it live next year.

I know Aaron who has led the usual tribute the last two years, has just been deployed. He had been hoping it would be done at the Tamworth game, which was his last before he went. I miss the days when we used to have members of the local British Legion along with their colours.

I must apologise for not making the full tribute. We stopped for the Last Post, but once people started clapping, I thought I had better get on and get the children to their parents. Only after that decision did the silence start, I'd already started off by then and they were not close enough to call to stop without calling attention to it. Doesn't the announcer normally say what will happen, and then people know?

I’m the British Legion Standard bearer for Leigh on Sea, i unfortunately was at the Albert Hall yesterday so even if i was invited I couldn’t attend, I happen to have very good relations with all the local military organisations and if the Trust would like, I can and would be happy to assist in organising next year’s remembrance service at Roots Hall 😊

Thank you. Not our place to get involved, but feel free to contact Rylee at the Club on the back of some of the comments here. Rylee.doe@southend-united.co.uk.

I know I've been asked not to have Junior Blues flags at these Remembrance games in the past because of colours being present.
