Relegation- would it be that bad

Part of me is looking forward to being the biggest club in the division.

A great claim - and one that we could absolutly back up...off the field. On the field will be quite another matter. Also you have the added factor of teams coming to Roots Hall, with perhaps the biggest crowd and best atmosphere in the division, raising their games for the day and taking home a point or three in the process.
Imagine a how a Accrington fan would feel coming to Roots Hall with a crowd of 7000? Be like a trip to Wembley. Just speak to Col ewe fans. ;-)

Also lots of new places to visit burton, morcambe, accrington, stevenage and shrewsburys new ground. Local derby with D&R (How many would we take?) What do you think?

And how many fans would we take there if we were not at the top of the table? Apart from Dagenham and Stevenage( not the same as Orient and Charlton) i reckon we'd be lucky to muster up 100 loyal souls.

If we do what we usually do and get stuck down there for 7 seasons when we really should have come straight back up (1998/99) then yes, it really will be the worst thing. If we go down and come straight back up then the renewed upwards momentum would be very much welcome, but I don't think anyone can guarantee that happening, especially if there's a summer clear-out, which I suspect there will be.

Relegation ~ Nailed On....

I hate to say it but we are nailed on for relegation and if as it is widely predicted the anymosity between Ron and the players continues it will result in a mass exodus at the end of the season.

The pay issue will come into play and I am sure clever agents wil realise that players do have some rights if not paid for consecutive months and will walk away from contracts that have little chance of being improved upon at SUFC but may elsewhere!

Obviously the debts the club owe to so many including the tax man have grown over a considerable time and you have to look at the stewardship of the club ~ who is the guy overseeing all this.....Ron Martin.

Tilly is a great guy but his body language of late tells it all and he has managed to keep what he feels to himself. I am sure he is sick and tired of the situation and if not pushed I think he may not be with us next year.

With this scenario I think we will struggle next year, crowds will drop closer to the 4/4500 mark and there will be more doom and gloom.

I sincerely hope I am wrong but it does not look good.....

However.....................

In an ideal world a wealthy benefactor will come along, pay off the debts, invest some money on the playing side and kick Mr Martin into touch.

Now if I won the Euro Lottery I would do the above but may keep Ron on to look after the Fossetts Farm debacle.....just saying to him...'it is your baby and you have promised so much now Mr.Martin deliver without screwing up the football side of things. Mr Martin please prove all the supporters that have not believed in you wrong!'

I will buy a ticket on Friday!
