Breaking News Released and retained players

Theo seems a decent cove. I think he should go to Swindon where he is clearly appreciated.

Were he to remain here he would be well down the pecking order and still remain a scapegoat and a target for all the boo boys should things start to go wrong.

I've know doubt Theo would sign for Swindon and Bond would have to have a serious plan if he wants him to stay.

One aspect could be wages. Under PB last summer they cut the budget by about 44%, which is why I never chose them in our top 5 prediction league. I went for the much safer choice of Notts County

He wouldn't be a target were he to hit that other target - the thing with posts and a net - but he doesn't.
'Scapegoat'? The idea of a forward is to score, like Oxley's is to save. You don't deliver the goods then it's hasta la vista, baby...

Incredible what happened to them. Some bookies had them as favourites to win League Two last season after the players they signed. It seems to be a club hardly anyone can get the best out of. 30 Managers have tried in 30 seasons. That might be a Managerial record. Sol Campbell famously once played a single match before beating a hasty retreat.

I think it would be a mistake to let Theo leave, he's a pacy striker that always puts a shift in and if he'd stayed in January we probably would have been safe earlier.

If we'd been linked to a pacy striker who'd scored a goal every other game in L2 some people on here would be urging him to be signed on the spot

Is there any news / possibility of securing Moore / Hart? both hardworking players that it would be a shame to see playing elsewhere...

But he is scoring for Swindon hence why I believe he should join them.

Sam Hart posted a photo on Instagram, of the scenes at the end of the Sunderland game with the phrase "Missing it". Of course, that may just be reading something into it that I shouldn't, but, here's hoping!

For whatever reason it hasn't worked out for him here. He has done well at Swindon and they want to keep him which will free up some wages for us to strengthen the positions we need to Why keep someone who will be fourth choice striker, not a favourite with the fans, when he can have a decent career with a club who want him. I wish him well - he works hard but his tenure at Southend hasn't worked out well for him or the Club.

I’m afraid he isn’t good enough for league one. Thought he was a good signing but was wrong. Time to move on.

Be more than happy with Hart but not too fussed about Moore tbh
I want a big ugly imposing centre half, something like Dervette.

No it hasn’t. I also don’t believe he is good enough for our first XI, especially with the 3 strikers we have, however as fourth choice I would have no qualms about keeping him.

Thinking back to his first spell with us, our game plan for him was quite different to the tactics deployed by PB & CP. In the first stint we used the channels, almost exclusively, allowing Theo to use his pace, turning the oppo’s defence and thereby making space for our attackers. This made the most of Theo’s raw pace and allowed us to exploit the space created by it. Under PB & CP, he was deployed far more as a standard striker with balls pumped up to him. The exception to this being the first part of CP tenure when the tactic was use the wingers and channels and get the ball into the box quickly, & shoot on site in the last third, which was also a tactic that worked well for Theo.

So, whilst I admit he’s not going to set the Championship alight, I do believe that he can make a difference in L1, IF used in the right system/tactics.

I think anyone would be pretty stupid to turn down a contract with a huge pay increase. That Hudds contract has potentially set him up for 10 years after football. If another company increased my wages by X5 I'd be straight out the door.

Let's say Huddersfield paid him 5k a week.

That is not enough to set you up for ten years.

That said I would have taken the money and anything that wasn't bolted down at Boots and Laces.

Well apart from the soccer dome of course which ironically should be bolted down rather than rusting away...

If Wabo put as much energy into his on the field performances as he did in to his media contributions, then maybe he'd still be with us.

Two sides to every story - according to Powell he came back from last summer in atrocious physical condition.

Serious question, how out of shape can you get in a month?

Also how much fun can you have in this period?

Was frustrated we let him ago until I realised he’s the same age as Humphrys. That really put things into perspective.

Would Humphrys struggle to get a game on loan at a Conference team? Of course he wouldn’t.

Just goes to show that unfortunately, Wabo just isn’t currently at the level we need him to be. I still think he’ll drop down to a Conference South team, score some goals and have a decent career though.
