Ref watch - another beginner

Mick

Life President
This time the rookie coming to do our match on Saturday is Steve Cook officiating in his second ever League One match, having also done half a dozen League Two matches. Got his first red card at this level out of his system in the Cup last weekend.
Burst on to the League scene with a truly dreadful debut at Shrewsbury v Rochdale and has presumably improved as he's still getting games. Only 23.

Mick , I really do respect you and value your posts on these ref's ( and you are 99% right about them too ) but FFS I have had a sh1tty day and just when I thought it could not get much worse I read that post and my heart sank

went to the reserves too then ?? :)

Ye gods. Any chance of some experienced refs taking charge of our games at some point? That's the third league match in a row we've had a rookie.

Why is it always us that gets stitched up with the newbie's? 23 FFS!! They used to say that when policemen were younger than you, you knew you were getting old.

Michael OLIVER is, I believe, the youngest. A mere 21 or may just be 22.

Good call on this - Michael's dad is also a League referee.

When is Amy Rayner going to get her chance as a League ref - can't be any worst than some of those that we've seen at RH in recent seasons.

..... don't you believe it !

When we get well known refs who are supposed to be the best, they ref us like ****s. Steve Bennett is the prime example.

She may be female but whats the bet that she would be so determined to do a good job because of her gender and wanting to prove people wrong, that she would prob be one of the best refs we have had for a long time.
