R.I.P. Trevor Bashford & Funeral Arrangements.

Very sad news. Trevor was Trust Chairman when I joined the committee many years ago and we all travelled on the Trust coach to away games and had great times. Trevor has had health issues for some time but his sudden passing at a relatively young age has come as a shock. My condolences to Irene & Zoe.

It's always sad to learn the passing of any Shrimper but more so when you have had previous contact with that person.Chatted many times with Trevor at various places and locations up and down the UK and what a passionate man he was.

Zoe will be attending tomorrows game in the West stand with quite a large group of friends and family and i believe the club are paying tribute to Trevor as well

When I think back to when I first started going regularly, he's a figure that pops immediately into my head.

I remember back in the Sturrock era he had this thing for Elliott Benyon. Winning the game comfortably? "BRING ON BENYON". 3-0 down? "BRING ON BENYON". Injured centre back? "BRING ON BENYON". Was a running catchphrase in my group at the time after this.

I also remember an incident back in a fans game against Oxford. I barley put arms on this fella and he was like a prime Trevor Kettle. Being the chirpy **** I was (am), "that's not a ****ing foul Trev". "You're arms are all round him, who do you think you are Adam Barrett? Swear at me again and I'll send you off as well". Shut me right up.

A proper football man, a proper football character and a proper shrimper. RIP Trev

Condolences to his family and friends and the whole Shrimper community. RIP and 3 points today would be a fitting tribute.

Even for a banker he was a top man and carried a hell of a lot of respect with many many fans..
Thoughts go out to Zoe and the wonderful Irene.
Death is crap but some people just live on in hearts and minds and Bash is one of those people.
Much like his son in law who left his mortal coil way too young.
Both are legends in my heart.

Trevor was exemplary when my brother in law, who worked with Trevor, passed - another Shrimper gone too soon. Trevor helped set up the wake at the Shrimpers Bar (East Stand) and had all the contacts. Michael's ashes were going to be sprinkled at FF but now are awaiting a resting place. Trevor - well played Sir and keep watching on from above.

My dad’s funeral is on Friday 29th November at 2pm at Southend Crematorium then to the Far Post Bar for the wake. This is going to be a celebration of my dad and his life. Everyone is welcome to join us to celebrate my amazing dad. Football shirts can be worn as this is something my dad would love.
