Pro Evo 8

BoyWonder2

2024, the year of the Shrimpers ⭐🦐
Couple of questions:

1) When is the release date for this?

and

2) Will I be able to get it on PS2?

I don't fancy forking out for an XBOX 360 or PS3 when all I ever play is Pro Evo and Brian Lara Cricket.

I think it's out on October 26th. And yeah it's out on PS2. I'm tempted to get a PS3 that day for it though.

Gonna be class. Tuesday 30th october will be the first Pro 8 tourno down the Marlborough if anyone fancys it. We can make it intresting and put the SZ trophy on the line as well!!

I'm doing the same. Been waiting for PES to come out just to get a PS3, wouldn't get one if there wasn't PES. Will be getting warhawk with it and MGS4 when that comes out.

Basically spending £400 for PES.

Play.com still have Pro Evo 7 down as being out on all formats on October 26th rather than October 1st.

Guys - PES has had its day!!

I am a massive Pro Evo fan and have owned every one since ISS on the SNES. I always get it over FIFA as FIFA never fails to dissapoint each year. FIFA 07 was a good step in the right direction though and now, FIFA 08 has improved on that!

It is just like watching real football - you have virtually total freedom to put the ball wherever you want now, whether passing, shooting etc. Plus there is new trick system (on the right stick), which lets you make up your own tricks. The good thing is that they are hard to use in the game, so like real life, you only see tricks every now and again - even better is that the more skillful players (like C.Ronaldo) can pull the tricks off easier.

PES is going to have to go some this year to be the best footie game - and all the signs so far from previews and people who have played it are not that impressed and have stated they will switch to FIFA.

(I've played the FIFA 08 demo to death on PS3 BTW - and the demo is around 8 weeks or so old)

Totally disagree Pboreham. I haven't played the game, but going on opinions I'v e received the passing is as square as before, the shooting is nice and the skills is a nice touch. So basically, it's Fifa as it always has been.

PES on the other hand has some great reviews from people I've heard from and I can't wait for it.

And the release date I heard was confirmed for 26/10, not 01/10.

Honestly, switch everything to manual (ok, shooting to semi) and try again. How you can say the passing is 'square' I dont know - using the analogue sticks, you have 360-degree freedom to put the ball where you want!!?

Each to their own, I'm bored of PES and they have shown no desire to improve it as they had no competition before.

Sure PES will be great and I'll probably get it as well, but until then, FIFA has a month to win people round...

I hear this every year from someone or other, I then give FIFA a go and every time turn it off within an hour and go back to Pro Evo. I'd happily switch if FIFA had a game to match it's presentation but it never seems to. Strip away the fancy music, glitzy advertising and big-name commentary and all you have is the game engine and in ten years EA haven't got close to Pro Evo's.

Can't agree with that either. Every year they raise the bar with the new version of Pro Evo. Every year they tweak the game play and make you go back to basics and learn the game all over again. Every year I actually wish that they wouldn't change so much because I find it so frustrating to be back at the bottom of the learning curve again. But that's part of the charm of the series.

Yea, I know its the same story every year, but this year avid PES players are saying it (including me!). The website 'Evo-Web' is/was prodominantly set up for PES players and they were quick to dismiss any FIFA game - but this year, most of the stalwarts are switching.

Have you even tried the demo? Its honestly no good for a 5 minute look and then dismissing it this year. It has a depth way beyond what Pro Evo's simple 'point and click' passing has become.

The only reason people were dissing the FIFA demo is that it was actually too hard to use the controls - as I said, PES has now dumbed down and become what FIFA was 5/6 years ago.

If you have the patience and the inclination, FIFA will be the true simulation this year and PES will be (still great, but more) arcadey.

Plus FIFA has Southend in it!

Indeed. After coming back from travelling in March and playing Pro Evo 6 for the first time i found it alot hard. Pro Evo 5 ive got a master league going and ive won everything on 5 star. Switching to Pro 6 i thought would be easy but its alot harder.

The heading is now done by the power bar (before u just pressed square), the game flows a bite more instead of blowing up for stupid things and the shootings a bit harder as well.

Cant wait for next edition of PES... :p

Well I ended up buying FIFA whilst waiting for Pro Evo to come out. It is better than I'd given it credit for and is a HUGE step away from the previous games in the series. As a stand-alone game I still don't think it's as good a football game as Pro Evo 6 and I'm confident that Pro Evo 7 will be even better.

That said, I'm struggling to think of a better feature on any football game ever than the 'Be A Pro' stuff. It's so, so good. I just lashed one in from 18 yards in the 87th minute as Kevin Maher playing at Layer Road. That felt bloody good.

TAKE THAT, DUGUID!

Got my copy of Pro Evo 2008 yesterday (Weds) It is looking very good although I didnt get much time to play it. May have to have a marathon over the weekend to get to grips with it..........
