Pro Evo 2009

I disagree. PES08 was rubbish, but PES09 is bringing it back. FIFA is same old same old, just slightly tweaked and with great features. Gameplay wise, PES>FIFA.

The brief demo for Pro Evo 09 looks good but I think it's far, far too early to be proclaiming it as the return of the series.

I'm as big a Pro Evo fan as there is BUT FIFA 08 and 09 have both been huge steps in the right direction as far as EA are concerned (which they clearly know as 09 is the first FIFA game in years to be merely tweaked rather than completely re-coded). Having played both demos thoroughly, it's clear that FIFA is a much more difficult game than Pro Evo is. The main criticism of FIFA over the last ten years was that you could pick it up and beat the computer three or four nil in your first game. That isn't the case now.

I agree it's too early to proclaim its back. The demo is a good game but I want more from the final product.

As for FIFA being harder, I half agree, half dont. FIFA's harder because it's generally more difficult to string passes together. But PES is very hard against Top Player, they're clinical.

Mate downloaded this last night (full version), so finally got to play it. Like it, the over the top through ball is much better and effective in ripping the defence apart. The space that opens up towards the end due to fatigue is also nice.

The passing really got me, having to be more accurate in the direction and so forth. Goalkeepers are nonces, had Casillas parry a very tame shot into the path of Kaka 3 yards out amongst many other silly errors :(

Overall thumbs up - looking forward to buying it Friday, and glad I didn't enter the dark side by buying Fifa :D

An article I read comparing the different versions of Pro Evo, actually reckoned that the Wii title might well be the best after a few hours of play. Which shocked me a tad...

My copy arrived today thanks to Shop.to.

Had a quick look around the edit mode. I managed to make a Southend shirt within about 2 minutes. All I had to to was copy the badge and the Insure and Go logo from a USB pen and it was good to go plus you can import crowd chants from mp3. Going to put it down for a bit so I can take in the England game....

Got mine from Shopto too. Just having to download the PSN update so I can check out the all important online but I had a quick exhibition match and it seemed good to me. Going to take some adjusting to as all games do but I think I'll grow to love it. We'll see..I'll report back later.

Haven't got online yet but really enjoying be a pro, only one exhibition match and one training match in. If online works well this will be class.

Wondering if the Tesco 24hr shop might sell this tonight after midnight... Done work at half past midnight - might nip out and give it a try :)

Frederico - you on Playstation or Xbox? If the latter - we must organise a match

The full game is definitely a lot more polished than the demo and the Legend mode is class.

It's definitely gone back to being a simulation rather than very arcadey as it was last year. Plus the free-kick bug and cut-back-queen bug have both been fixed for this version. Graphics this year are much better too.

Overall it's a more fluent version of FIFA with better gameplay and is more responsive (we all know about the delay between pressing buttons in FIFA and the pass/shot actually taking place).

PS mate, the real mans console :whistling:

Chaps, how many user players can you go with online? Say for example, can me and my mate play together on my console against 2 others from somewhere else in a match?
