Neil Harman - tennis correspondent of The Times and a Southender - was at Anfield the other day. SZ tweeted him to ask if he was staying until Monday and got this reply:

"It was mentioned three times over the tannoy, think they're expecting a decent crowd. Sadly I can't be there. In spirit yes"

Uncle Leo said:
"300 SUFC fans en route to Anfield for tonight's FA Youth Cup tie. Kane Ferdinand (Rio's cousin) yet another SUFC prospect"
Good stuff. Can't imagine he'll be there though....

Edit - would rep both you and ESB, but can't.....

Word from one of the coaches is that Kenny Dalglish has donated free tickets to Southend Supporters.

Top gesture!

Think we're going to have a bad evening  Just got the feeling that the occasion will be too much for some of our players. It's a big match, plus it's televised, plus it sounds like there'll be a decent crowd, how many of them will be used to that?

On the plus side, it's probably better for their development to face a game like this, and gain the experience. They may well freeze, but if so I bet they'll look back on it and never do so again!

Hope I'm wrong, mind, would be great to see us progress further.

Yep although in a strange way I hope they dont do too well as would love to see some of them in our first team and not rotting in the reserves of a prem club, as i'm sure there will be tons of scouts tonight.
