I may only be speaking for my self but In anticipation of the season I am very excited about the prospect of this season. With sturrock we always just missed out whether that be against Crewe in the play off semis or on play offs itself last year. Personally I'm a huge fan of Phil Brown, the signings he has made and his whole aura. Under sturrock we were much the same, long ball football but under Brown I can see a more dynamic side emerging with youngsters being given a chance! I have a very good feeling about this season and Phil Brown, UTB!

I'd be a lot more optimistic and excited if he could actually bring in the players he wants/we need.

In addition to what Shrimper has posted, then Brown himself isn't a happy bunny after Chris Phillips posted his latest comments. So Mr Southend Schoolboy your happier than Mr Brown then ??

i am definitely the least excited about the 1st match of the season than i have been for the previous 40 years of supporting blues. Although we played quite well against an experienced QPR team + we showed good tenacity + work rate ,we are blatantly punchless up front with a massive lack of pace. 0-0 draws could be a regular event at Roots Hall again if we don't address this PDQ

A bit ashamed to say that my excitement levels are very low and far outweighed by my trepidation levels.

I hope that once the first match kicks off that the excitement kicks back in.

Totally agree, looking forward to this season less than almost any other in the 50 years I have supported them.Really hope I'm proved wrong !!

I am not excited at all, in fact I would rather have a few weeks break before the season starts. I don't feel ready for it to begin yet, enjoying playing my golf and other sports to much at the moment. Plus the fact that our current squad is looking mid table being a miracle that's not helping things.

First time I've never been to at least 1 pre-season friendly in over 10 years. Ron Martin is killing my support for my team. I still have a season ticket though so hopefully I'll get back into it.

Yes, I must admit to feeling underwhelmed. I'm happy concentrating on us thumping the Aussies in the Ashes at the moment. No doubt the fires will rise again once we've played a couple of matches. I'm predicting finishing 11th after a season which promised a little - and then delivered it.

I'm excited because this is our season we are going to finish top with 102 pts in an undefeated season. Also the diggers will move onto the FF site.

Call me an optimistic old fool if you like, but Im looking forward to Saturday, and I think we will have a great season

I am struggling to get excited at the moment but that is because we are still in July, the sun is out (at last!), and we are not yet halfway through the Ashes. The beginning of August just feels to early for football.

Come Saturday no doubt this will all change and after the first match I will be eagerly waiting the next game....on Tuesday.

Personaly I have not been less excited about any season in the last 10 years, just feel the constant struggle with finance will have a drastic affect on this season at some stage.
