an excellent league 2 player is Charlie McDonald at Brentford. Why can't Tilly sign him?

the question you should be asking is why couldnt tilly get the best out of him?

why couldnt tilly get the best out of hooper?

il tell you why, because tilly isnt a good enough manager.

no way of telling how good he actually was before we had to sign him before he went back to portsmouth. ridiculous.

The only ridiculous thing is your statement. The loan period was our way of telling how good he was before we signed him permanently. And the fact that we can "try before we buy" like that is one of the benefits of playing the loan system.

By the way, welcome to the board Mr Federici.

just compare the mk dons team to ours, they buy players who arent 35 and theyr doing well.

They also happen to have a new stadium and an expanding fan base, something that Ron and the club are well advanced in achieving. It just so happens that he is in the property business which, together with the banks who we need to finance the project, are not doing so well. Rest assured that this will come in time but we need to be patient and if that means a few years of mediocrity in League 1 I'd be quite happy to accept that.

Or because League 1 was too high a level for Charlie Mac and Hoops never quite settled here maybe?

Sometimes that happens with players and that's just part of being a manager. Thierry Henry had never really set the world alight before he went to Arsenal remember!

players who want a transfer are always going to play better during their loan spell. its difficult to judge players potential in that short space of time, thats why top clubs send scouts to loads of games and watch loads of tapes of the matches theyv played in before they put an offer in for them. just contrast the way in which grant played against chelsea to how he played against stockport..

you can only put it down to the players attitude/motivation, and the teams motivation in general is down to bad management.

hoops never quite settled in, but at the same time last season we had a surplus of strikers, when we really needed to strengthen the defence. i hate to say this because hes a lovely bloke but barrett is not good enough. clarkey has fantastic potential and is a real leader, but those two cannot work together, and id get rid of barrett. if i had to pick one to sell out of revell and hooper.. itd be revell all day long. why we signed scannell i dont know, and barnard is a complete lightweight injury prone waste of space, and a joke of an eastwood replacement.

No point in beating about the bush, cobber - say it like it is....

So was Boere one season and he was awful.

Point taken but even if Barney's so :censored: and injured all the time, I still think calls to get rid are very much premature, especially when we have a broken leg, a fractured ankle, torn hamstring, broken toenail (Freedman :( ) and another striker out on loan (Furlong, although I believe he can be called back for Saturday's match).

Aussie you seem to be moaning for moanings sake, if you have a serious issue with everything about the club as it seems then why bother mate?

im frustrated with the transfer policy. it has no direction. id rather we signed players who were average and got the best out them than get potentially class players in on loan for a month like stanislas.

Pretty sure no1 from the club comes on here except a media guy, which i guess is that scriven fella.

But then again this is not an official SUFC thing just a fan site so don't see why they would even do that
