ive been supporting southend all my life and have never seen us name a side that couldnt even get a full bench its disgusting!

foran is the main thing on all the board! we have never seen him at this level of football, we see him at championship level and to be fair to him a striker playing left wing that did ok. So ppl on here saying he aint good enough are surely wrong he was ok at the level above not outstanding but ok!

we could have named anyone of our youngsters on the bench for the experience 20000 crowd would have done them no harm just being on the bench.

Hazell, Henry, Lindie, The Big Centre Back in the youths cant remember his name. Anyone would have been better than naming just 4 its embarrasing

get off ur arse tilson and get some players in. i dont like the loan system cos it unsettles things but even that will do now!

There are already 3,562 threads on here about why Foran is either: a) the Second Coming and the underused answer to all our prayers or b) a waste of space who'll never play for SUFC again. Either way, its not our call and the record is now well and truly scratched.

I have varying views on this. If we're not going to use them, whats the point in taking more than 4 subs? On the other hand, it could be good experience as you say. However, these are youth players and as such might not be able to take 2 days out of school to travel the length of the country. Right now, football is a part-time career for these boys and not their day job.

100% correct. I cannot understand the mentality of some so-called "fans" who claim that Tilly is somehow lazy or not doing his best to get us out of our current predicament and are doing their best to get him hounded out of the club. Ron has stated that there's money available (and so far, I think we'll give him the benefit of the doubt) and we have heard of targets that we have been chasing (Johnson, Williamson, Ritchie etc.). We also know that some players have in the past had fees agreed with clubs and then the player has rejected a move here. Unfortunately, we need players who are experienced and are going to improve the squad and you do get knock-backs, particularly when you are 17th in the League and perilously close to a relegation battle.

However, Tilly is an experienced manager and he knows that plan A doesn't always come off and that you need to have backups if that turns out to be the case. By all means come back and slag him off if we haven't signed anyone by Monday evening but don't accuse him of not getting "off his arse" and doing his best to bring improvements to the squad. :madman:

Don't understand your point here. You're asking whether T&B have any contacts and then you suggest that Dean Austin has done them a favour. My conclusion is that they do have contacts and that Dean Austin might be one of them.

im just putting two and two together. i dont understand how fans havent done the sums in the last few seasons: players in = less than half a million, eastwood alone = £1.5million; we have money. there is money there to spend, and not on martin family holidays. if martin was serious about staying in the championship he would have spent money like hull did, and look where they are now.

for some reason we sign old men like ricketts and furlong, goater was an inspired signing but a one off. betsy is past it and seemed to fit the bill, old and cheap and will do. just compare the mk dons team to ours, they buy players who arent 35 and theyr doing well.

again a huge gamble. much like charlie macdonald was from the conference. no first team experience, no football league experience, no way of telling how good he actually was before we had to sign him before he went back to portsmouth. ridiculous. why cant we sign excellent league 2 players or good league one players as thats what we should be doing.

And coming up with the wrong answer. The finances have been done to death on here, but I suggest you PM Firestorm (sorry, Garry!) and ask him to pm you the good analysis he has done on where the money is. Ron Martin has already stated that money is flowing FROM him INTO the club, and to suggest that he is syphoning money the other way is slanderous.

experienced yes, but not past it. freedman is past it, he cant play two games in a row his legs are so old. experienced = 26/27/28 year olds. not 35 year olds mixed in with 17 year olds.
