I must confess I look at the opposition before I bring my son to the games at the moment. At the age he is at I don't want him to see that sort of thing and the Luton experience was bad for adults let alone kids.

Indeed. I won't take my kids to away games unless I'm happy there won't be any trouble. The only away game so far was at Wycombe last season, which wasn't great!

Are there lot's of cameras covering the outside of Roots Hall ? If so I would politely suggest if a scrote takes a swing at you then deal with them and refer the arresting officer to the cctv evidence

I don't think that's necessary for the average away following of 2-300 but it might be an idea for larger followings like Millwall, Col U etc. Would ease the congestion too.

No-one seems to do this anymore do they? I quite liked it as a tactic as a home fan but its a ******* when your an away fan as the police basically single you out as an away fan to any herberts waiting by looking for trouble.

I think the record for being kept in after was probably Peterborough at the end of the season 89-90 or Stoke City away the following season. Maybe Millwall in 81-82.

Around 30-40 minutes on those occasions. Enough to bore the oppo fans into submission waiting outside!

All well and good having camaras about , but do they have film in . A toerag beat my sister in law up in Southend High Street a few years ago , there was two camaras in the High Street but neither had film in .

I'm not sure how heavy this was, but there has been no mention in the Echo at all, very strange. Normally they would fill a column or two with a bit of crowd aggro.

Someone was questioning why the police were outside the Blue Boar and in West Road , but not in the car park or ground.
I'm just guessing , but I assume that it's at the clubs expense if they are requested at the ground , so this is largely a cost issue.
Now I understand the club are not flush with funds so will try to minimise costs where possible , but it's a balancing act between people feeling safe and not attending.
People may say there has been nothing that bad and we shouldn't over react , but next Saturday I am taking my 8 year old daughter so as a parent I need to make different judgement calls than i would on my own

I would suggest it has something to do with the category of game too. For a cat A game, we would probably be required to pay to have the police presence inside the ground. Possibly only expected this season for Millwall, Colchester and Gillingham at the very most.
