Please Tilly - Give us a striker.

I agree with you there duncan....harris for me is a good player, the times ive seen him play ive been impressed. He not only is a target man but also contributes a few goals here and there, even a hat-trick the other week. Not something our 'target' men will do.

For me we do need another striker to partner barney and someone to score goals. we cant just rely on barnard to get our goals

I came out of Friday's game saying how much we could've done with Theo in that game. When we got pegged in by Millwall and when it all got too scrappy and tight, we could've knocked the ball over the top for him to chase. I think we miss a quick striker who play on the shoulder more than a wide player, and I like my wingers! A new Theo would also help the defence because it'd take some pressure off them at times.

spot and on sir

It was Barnard that was offside and the goal would have stood.

He still 'won' the header though, which was your argument :P

Think we can all agree that Revs is not a goal scorer - dont think anyone would claim that. But he is pretty unique in what he does bring the team - and those qualities are more than Freedman/Walker can offer IMO.

My original comment was he wont win unchallenged headers and as mentioned he didnt win any to the best of my recollection.

I don't agree Dave. If there's a single penny left in either transfer fees or wages it should be spent on some defenders or on a winger rather than on a seventh striker. Laurent, Freedman, Revell and Walker won't be near the top of the division's goalscorers list this season, but they are all decent players for this level and I doubt that we'd be able to get in much better.

I thought Revs looked pretty lively when he came on on Friday and got into a few good goalscoring positions. He's also not afraid to shoot when given half a chance which puts him way above most targetmen we've had in recent years.

i have to say i agree with you on that..
oncethe guys start finding the net the goals will start coming.

I'd like to see Walker back in. His running off the ball is great and when he gets it he can work his way across the pitch, allowing the whole team to move up and other midfielders to join him in support. Getting the likes of Macca further up in the pitch in possession will and has in the past, get us the goals.
He draws defenders like a magnet when he dribbles and has always freed up room for Barney. They were a good partnership in that run to the play-offs.

We are a Theo or Stanislas away from being a top 6 team, converting those draws into wins. Wont get near the top 6 with current set of strikers and no decent widemen.

I agree. I think the first post is harsh on Laurent. He's an exciting skilful player and when he's back I'd have him as Barnard's partner. With a run in the team I think he could score some goals. He can hold the ball up but also run past players. Freedman, Revell and Walker are all decent League One strikers and as you say, we probably won't be able to get much better. It's hard to find good goalscorers at this level, and they need service (which is why we need Sawyer in the team). I'd sooner buy a defender to replace Heath/White or a winger.

Another striker? my a**e!! we don't need them at all, we got enough strikers in our squad, all I worry about is a winger who can play either left or right, someone who can stretch the defences and get some good cross in for our forward to score - we are lacking service - look at Barnard goals agasint Cheltenham - its because we put the ball in the box for him.

Laurent is much better forward than what we got int he team - he is more than good enough to get into Legia Warsaw team as he got the talent, skills and pace to play at highest level.

Need a fast right winger more than a striker.

But we already have two right wingers on our books in Betsy and Scannell. Granted they are the best wingers in the world but can our squad afford to have 3 right wingers? Also, don't forget, Laurent played all pre-season out there and Walker can play wide as well.

I'm happy enough with our selection of strikers. Barnard is mustard and can get us 20 goals a season if he stays fit, and our other strikers will weigh in with their share of goals as well. In an ideal world we'd have, for example, Robinson as the quick man instead of Walker, Billy Clarke as a target man rather than Revell but we have to make do with what we have.

Its obvious finances are limited and we can't afford to bring in another striker, when we have 6 on our books. Now if Calver was to go out on loan, one striker pick up a knock (Which is likely with Barney and Freedman) then you could argue about bringing another forward in on loan. Until then I think our monies are better spent elsewhere like replacing Heath and White if they go back to Col Ewe at the end of the month.

Is that what you mean? :)

I'd take both. Left and Right. Assume they won't sit next to each other on the bus, but who cares. Last thing we need is ANOTHER striker. We also need a left back as White is **** - sorry, know that won't be popular, but needs saying.
