Totally wrong as far as I am concerned...Always a central midfield player.

Are you sure Paul Ince was never a central defencer, Dave?

Can't remember him ever playing there, but I'd be reluctant to question Murkey Mouse's footballing brain.

I suspect that Mitch is going to Northampton permanantly in January so won't be coming back in any circumstances.

Check out the BluesWorld interview with Tilly, Matt, where Dave mentions that MC is doing well at Northampton. Tilly's response is underwhelming to put it mildly and when I watched it I felt much as Beefy seems to - that MC no longer figures in SUFC's plans.

Quote[/b] (lucus @ Oct. 25 2006,11:24)]Not sure if an Eastwood, Hooper partnership will work? Especially after watching them play together at Derby. It wasn't their fault that they had zero serivce that day, but with no one to win a header I would have to hope for a Hooper, Harold pairing instead.
I think Hooper and Eastwood can play together. Both players have good movement an essential quality at this level and both have a natural knack of finding space. In fact I think Hooper may turn out to be more of natural poacher than Eastwood. Hooper seems to be one of those players who finds themselves in the right place at the right time. We need somebody like that in the box. Freddy tends to score more spectacular goals.

I think it can work but may take time to gel. However, if we are going to play those two the whole team must be aware that pumping high balls up to them, either from defence or midfield is not going to be very successful. We must keep it on the floor and play to feet.

I have nothing against Matt Harold, but I think we suffer a similar problem to England when we play with a bigger less mobile player up front. It's easy for a defence to squeeze up and condense the space when there's no threat in behind and when Freddy drops deep as he likes to do it can be a problem. It's the same for England when Rooney drops deep, Crouch offers little threat in behind, making it easy for the defence. I know Crouch has scored a lot of goals and not everybody will agree with me, but I believe Crouch is also part of the problem for England and is one of the reasons England have struggled so badly in recent games. We have become easy to defend against.
