Players for Saturday

DTS

The Business
Baring in mind we lost Billy last night and Simon Francis is suspended for the weekend match I cant help but think we are stupidly short of bodies.

As I see it now we have

FULLY FIT
Flavs, Collis,
Hammell,Barrett, Sodje,Clarke,Hunt, Wilson
Gutts,Maher,Smith,Gower, Moussa
Hooper,Harrold

POSSIBLES
Freddy,JCR,Bradbury??

I make it a maximum of 15 fully fit and hopefully one of the possibles. Dont think we can play Jamie Lawson yet.

Worries me a bit that our fit 15 people includes Che & Sodje who are probably not 100%, Moussa who is just a kid really and Hooper who has recently been laid off too.

Time for a few loans or even Coley back I feel.....

Apparently Freddy should be fit so I reckon we'll line up like this:

          Flavs

Hunt   Efe   Barrett  Hammell

Gutts  Clarke  Maher   Gower

       Hoops     Freddy

Subs: Che, Collis (GK), Smith, Moussa, Harrold

It's really just a case of whether Tilly goes with Hoops or brings Harrold back in. Obviously if Freddy doesn't make it it'll be Harrold and Hoops up top.

I am not to worried about up front Hooper stepped upto the plate last night and performed well another master stroke by Tilly that none of us saw?

We really need a loan in for Sat.
Surely the "only get in better than what we've got" argument so often used by T&B doesn't apply now we're so light on the ground in terms of bodies?

I say give freddy a rest, take the pressure off him a bit. I think we should play Harrold and Hooper up front on saturday. Then we can have Freddy to come on when their defence is all tired out.

Not sure if an Eastwood, Hooper partnership will work? Especially after watching them play together at Derby. It wasn't their fault that they had zero serivce that day, but with no one to win a header I would have to hope for a Hooper, Harold pairing instead.

Spot on. A couple of loans now would be very welcome. I saw Cov on Mon night had two loanees in playing L&R Back, which had all been arranged since the previous match, so surely something is possible.

Drewe or Nicky, anyone?

Who are we actually going to miss on Saturday?

Francis is considered a liability a right-back and has been moved out of position; JCR had already been dropped before he was injured; Prior was rated as 4th or even 5th choice centre-back by most of you earlier on in the season; Paynter has been widely condemned as a flop on here. Only Bradbury of the players likely to miss Saturday could be considered a probable first choice.

Flahavan
Hunt Sodje Barrett Hammell
Gutts Clarke Maher Gower
Eastwood Hooper

Subs: Collis, Wilson, J. Smith, Lawson/Moussa, Harrold

That squad has pretty much all options covered (other than a lack of width on the bench, but that is something we've lacked ever since Cole was allowed out on loan).

If we get in a loan in its only because our squad wasn't good enough when the season started not because of injuries and suspensions.

Didn't most people think we were one central midfielder short of a full deck at the start of the season anyway? I know that I did... and we still are.

We lost two battlers in Petts and Benno and, for whatever reason, we've not replaced them. It has shown.

Maybe Clarke will turn out to be a good Bentley replacement? Similar committed style, technically Clarke might even be better..

We still need a playmaker though. Unless Gutts turned the corner last night...

gotta be Hooper and Harrold to start, with Freddy ready to make an impact from the bench around the 60 / 70 minute mark

Great (footballing) minds eh HKB?

Think I'd opt for a hooper / Harrold combination to start.
Agree with Lee boy bring freddy on with 20 minutes to go.

Yeah we should definately start with Harrold and Hooper on Saturday. It might stop us trying to do everything through Freddy! At the moment it just isn't working!!

Then if it's not going well with 35 mins left then bring him on to run himself into the ground for half an hour or so and see if the tired Leeds defenders can stop him.

Mind you, Paul Ince was a full back/central defencer at West Ham (if anyone correct me if I was wrong) & Alex Ferguson moved him into Central midfield & rest is history, I know Clarke not in same class as Ince, but why not after his display in midfield last night.

I think you are wrong....he was largely a midfielder with West Ham, chipping in with some spectacular goals, and when he joined Man U Fergie played him at full back for a while.
