You mentioned that Maher can't put the ball in himself, so my comments about Maher are an example of how possibly he has a negative effect on the player who seems to be our most creative!

Whatever you class as mid table or mediocre isn't really the point, 10th is mid table whether we like it or not. I never mentioned the mediocrity, just our league position. I still have hopes of reaching the playoffs but I suspect if everyone was on level games we'd be a lot lower than we are and the playoffs would seem a lot further off.

I agree the players do definitely have to take some of the blame but then who's signed them and who's coaching them? It's a joint effort and again my mentioning of Parillon was done because if he was left to play his own game he may have created more than with Maher screaming at him. Thats my view of it anyway.

Plenty of players at the club would be moved on in the summer if fans had their way and if I had my way, so would Maher. We definitely do throw away too many points this season unfortunately. Sad but I would be very surprised to reach the playoffs at this point.
Mid-table mediocrity (or whatever you call it) to me is being in a position where you're not fighting for promotion, nor relegation. A position we will arguably find ourselves slipping into IF we lose to Altrincham, as from there I really couldn't see a late charge incoming. This season, I'd say 10th was acceptable at this stage. Next season, absolutely not with a full summers' recruitment, a full uninhibited pre-season and (hopefully) some better quality signings incoming. It's just a shame Golding/Parillon didn't arrive sooner and we weren't able to hang onto Bim.
Without Gus's goals - now we really would be ****ed ......

So that the last life gone. We literally have to win every game now to have any chance and that will get us 72 points. 75 is usually enough for 6th if you look over a large sample size of the same number teams in the league. 72 should get us into 7th. Anyway playoffs are still mathematically possible, I did tap out a few months back though as I am a realist.

I don't imagine that anyone seriously expects him to carry on this rich vein of goalscoring as almost certainly, as with Bridge, other sides will find a way to thwart him. Indeed it is surprising that he is still given such freedom by the opposition to get into goalscoring positions. This has of course served to disguise the ineptitude of our so called strikers. Without GSM and Pepple we would be down among the deadmen.

I get how opinions on whether Maher is the right man to take us forward may differ (I’m undecided). But this notion that he coaches creativity out of players and actively encourages them not to play with attack in mind .. hmm not sure I can buy into that. What possible gain would there be from doing that?
I think because his mind set is 'possession is paramount' so do not take risks and give the ball away, wait for the perfect pass or go sideways or backwards to retain the ball. If that is drummed into players like the new boy he will soon lose that welcome spirit of adventure he has shown so far. I seem to remember Husin was a lot more adventurous in his early days with us.

Win every game and that would give us 82 points.

Another 21 points needed from 10 games. So that's 7 wins. Stranger things have happened. Current form is 1.7 ish points per game. Not high enough and on that we will finish with around 67 points

3 points off but those teams have games in hand (but I'd always prefer to have the points on the board)

Call me unrealistic but looking at form etc we have caught up 6 and 5 points on Gateshead and Oldham respectively over the last 10 games. Extrapolate that then thd final game of the season away at Gateshead looks very tasty indeed...

Last ten games we have 19 points.

If we need 21 points (I’m always dubious of points tallies required) we just need to repeat that form with one draw turned into a win.

That slow start (14 points in first 13 games) will probably be the difference between making the playoffs and just missing out.

Anyone looking at our run in and where we are now will think it's a tall order for us to make play offs, stranger things have happened

And they didn’t beat the part time Tamworth mugs, as being a full time outfit they obviously should have done.

To be fair their run in does look tricky apart from Ebsfleet on the final day, although they have a run of 3 homes games before they play us, but all against other play off sides.
Not many teams will go to Tamworth and get 3 points.

For a part time side they're doing a fine job.
