SKY dictates everything about football now.

Everything is at a time convenient for their viewing figures. Any Prem club plays between Saturday lunchtime and Sunday teatime. There is rarely any continuity.

It is the hike in Prem admission prices that have priced so many out of top flight football and this has actually benefited lower league attendances. However, be prepared for a sting in the tail... the new SKY deal is so huge that there is a very strong feeling that Prem clubs will reduce or even eliminate admission fees altogether as they are incidental to the profits they make. At our level, they are everything. So in 2/3 years time, while we will be struggling to survive on £25 admission fees, London Prem clubs will probably charging £20 and for some games next to nothing.

Watch league 1 and 2 clubs fold or go part time. My own feeling is that within 10 years, football will have a very different structure. What we have isn't sustainable.

I normally consider your posts to be level-headed and well thought out but, i'm sorry, that is total tosh !!

Even with the inflated prices that London's finest charge for admission, have you recently tried to get a ticket for a top-flight match ????

I have, and they are like gold-dust !

If the ground capacities were all 50-70k then you may have an argument, but as most are around 30-40k your comment above is quite unbelievable. It's all supply and demand and there will always be more demand than supply in the capital.

Total tosh? It's been widely suggested that the Wet Hamsters might well do just this to fill the Olympic Greyhound Stadium when they move there. Outside of London it has already happened at Wigan on occasion as they struggled to fill their stadium. It could well be a marketing strategy at low interest matches.

The idea was also openly discussed by the FA as part of a discussion around keeping stadiums full at televised matches. They're horrified at the idea of live matches being beamed around the world with evidence that local support is lacking. There was also talk of a standard £20 away ticket but that seems more problematic.

These aren't my thoughts, this is what is being talked about. It's already happened in Germany. Admission fees are "incidental" and the clubs don't really need it. They make the vast majority of their money from TV, sponsorship, etc..

I dont think you read FBM's post correctly, if you had then you will see that although good points, none of our points are valid in this instance. If you had said that there is no way that they will turn down guaranteed income then you have a fair point.

HOWEVER

As a publicly quoted company it may be difficult for Man U to reduce their tickets to £20.00. Legally they have a responsibility to their shareholders and i do not see how they could justify reducing prices when it would make little/ no difference to attendances and therefore form a revenue perspective would make no sense.

I'm in North Wales from the 8th-11th so depending on where we are playing I might be able to sneak off for the sat or sun night game. If we play Plymouth or Stevenage I won't be able to go, I do hope we get Stevenage though as I think we will stand more of a chance.

easy decision- miss the football. It may not seem like it but school exams are far more important. It really is a no brainier. Anyone telling you anything different isn't putting you first . You have to live with the consequences, they don't. Remember if you miss a certain grade by just one mark you will always wonder what might have been.

Depends how important the exam is. If it's GCSE art and going to the football means getting a C rather than a B, I know what I'd do...

Sunday night would be ****. If we're not going to finish 3rd hope we get 4th, if it's Plymouth I'm sure we'd take a lot more on a Saturday than a Sunday.
