Pitch watering

Just read in the Evening Echo that our manager has had another moan again this time the suggestion the reason for poor play and being unable to pass is the state of the pitch ie " Its so difficult on that pitch its so bobbly it takes ages to get the ball under control".

Simple solution don't water the pitch before and during half time, this is what's turning the pitch into a bog and turning it up.

The watering of the pitch is on kevs instruction

Pitch has taken a bit of a pounding with 3 games in the space of a week. It gets a bit of respite for the next week and a bit, and with warmer weather should assist in the healing of the surface (although it's due to rain a bit)

The pitch drains quite well so a little water before kick off and at half time is akin to trying to fill a bath with a water pistol. It will make the surface slightly damp but it's got the same affect as a 5 minute rain shower.

The pitch is currently awful.

Really hoping a more stable off field situation lets the ground staff (and any contractors like White Horse) do their stuff this summer and do it in a more timely fashion.

I've said the same.

There's clubs in the NL with a fraction of our budget, but they have some unreal surfaces to play on. Eastleigh are a good example. We need to do better this summer. COSU need to provide the funds and tools to give Kev the surface he wants. The groundstaff are doing the best they can with what they are given.

The poor state of the pitch aligns with all the other deficiencies at Roots Hall such as the dim floodlights, uncomfortable seats, obstructed views, lack of cleanliness etc.

It will take a lot of time and money to repair the 25 years of neglect.
In fairness I think the floodlights have improved recently. Either that or I've got used to how crap they are!
