Was sat next to Benson's dad and uncle on Tuesday night. Not going to happen. But as mentioned, not due to lack of want on the player's part.
 
Should just get our head scout down to a few games in the conference north/south and try and source the next Freddy. Older players who command large wages are a huge gamble which paid off with Goater but drained the finances badly with Freedman and Harris. I'm positive there's some young gems somewhere in those leagues that we could probably sign for £5k and £750 a week!

Wouldn't class him as old when he signed for us. Just one of those that peaked at a young age and was hyped up a lot by the media.

Benson scored 4 in 19 last year at his level. Not sure he is a 20 goal a season player any more
 
It's probably Craig Fagan. He has experience at League 2 level having been at Bury last season. He is also currently a free agent

No doubt wages would be the first stumbling block next would be whether he is someone that interests PB and will he suit the football he wants us playing. The fact is Benson wants to play for us it's the other factors that are stopping it.
 
Whether Benson wants to play for us or not is irrelevant, fact is that PB has to want him in the first place. Would rather have him based on goals scored than Reid or Cowan, but thus far, we must trust PB judgement.

agree with this, you can love the club and have all the desire in the world but this as a guy in the twilight of his career, if Brown wants him fair enough but I'd rather look elsewhere and get some more pace into the side. Not too inspired by the suggestion of Fagan either. Folan could be worth a look on a contract til Jan.
