MR BLUE

Youth Team
Had a phone call from Phil Brown this morning, after writing to him about the positives of the Plymouth game (There were very few negatives)Have written to managers before but Phil Brown is the first to have the decency to phone, and what an honest bloke he is.He told me that the Forte deal is dead ,because of his pay off demands to Southampton. But he.s hoping to bring in a forward he knows from his days at Hull City, any guesses who that is.Anyway another forward is his top priority.

I'm glad Phil has come out and said that about Forte, as I understand it, the wages he was on were way, way, WAY out of our league. He does seem a pretty decent bloke, we'll have a chance to see when it comes to the Q&A on 2nd September.

That's excellent. I was actually considering writing to Brown after Plymouth with some praise as he said he reads (and tries to respond) to all letters he gets. Good to hear that it's true.

Shame about forte, not a lot we can do about that as it was a long shot. Always a chance come the end of the window if he hasn't got fixed up elsewhere, but given his quality I doubt there won't be a line of takers.

Very good that Mr Brown took the trouble to ring up a fan like this.I think a lot of people are starting to warm to him.

Dean Windass. :winking:

Let's hope he doesn't start going through your bin bags next.....

I'd assume it's probably Fagan too, but an outside bet could be Caleb Folan - trialed with Blackpool recently, but didn't come to anything. Brown paid £1million for him and he was in Hull's promotion side.

Doesn't look as if they were the best of friends:

"After Hull manager Phil Brown criticised Folan on his appearances for Hull during the 2009–10 season, Folan hit back by saying Brown's comments were "laughable and childish". However, upon Folan's return to Hull, Brown offered him a "clean slate".

Bloody great that is. I've sent Blue Peter's Peter Duncan 214 letters and what did I get back? Nothing that's what. Not even a restraining order.

Was True Blue informed of this by phone to ok this? If not then it's a disgrace

Really surprised there's still been no serious mention of any Wet Spam loanees. Thought Brown and Big Sam were pretty close. Surely he can send a Sean Maguire or Elliot Lee our way until January?

Lets face it the only player that West Ham had playing in the Rotts Hall friendly that was better than we already have is Jordan Spence. He is top quality , but we are more than flush with full backs.... so no point in signing a striker from West Ham just for the sake of it. From what i saw , their strikers were not even as good as Seedy Njie

We should go all out to sign 1 more striker. and that striker needs to be Paul Benson ......currently frozen out at Swindon + desperate to come back to play for us again to fire us to promotion. When Corr is injured/ rested we look toothless + weak up front.

has he actually said this?

has he actually said this?

Yup ...... and I reckon a Corr/Benson partnership would be awesome too as both are as good on the deck as in the air. Both are 20 goal a season players at this level + both would run through brick walls to get us 3 points.

Get these 2 playing up front + i'll be piling in at 25/1 for the title !!!!

Not sure. Seems like another Freedman/Harris scenario waiting to happen. Long contract and high wages for a player whose best years are behind him. Be far more interested in seeing a pacey front man to compliment Eastwood and Corr.
