I was there in 2009, a must win game to get us up automatically and avoid the dreaded playoffs that to be honest, we probably wouldn't have conquered as we were stumbling over the finish line where as Chesterfield were the in form side making a late run for the playoffs. Everything was going to plan and we ended the half the two Crown goals up, but peterbough who still could get into the playoffs with other results going in there favour, pulled a well worked goal back just after the restart. What followed was the longest 40 min's of football I have ever known as we literally clung onto our slender lead and defended the onslaught. We should have had a clear cut penalty on Crown right down on the biline in the last few minutes , literally feet from us standing against the fence by the pitch. Ironically after a huff and puff end to the season we found our form and I think went straight through the next division for back to back promotions. Chesterfield lost out in the playoffs but went up the next year automatically.

My first trip to Peterborough was towards the start of a season - I have no idea of the year but it wasn't too long ago. I think we were still unbeaten when we went there (may even have been 100% wins) and my memory is of a draw (and rain I think).

Before that the 1-0 win at Peterborough still sticks in my mind - I was away on holiday and heard the final score on the radio. It was baking hot that summer.

The last time I visited was that awful league cup game a couple of seasons ago. Not sure about going Saturday as it looks like it will be rather cold and at my age that is not something to be taken lightly.

Since 1989, I've been living only 30-odd miles from Peterborough and have seen all the Blues games there since then. The 1990 game and the 2009 game are the two that stand out for me. The 1990 game because it got us promoted. Wasn't that also the game where Webby gave a young Andy Edwards his League debut or is my memory going? I remember the 2009 game for that fantastic goal by Jean-François Christophe - shame it was just a flash in the pan. I can also remember Peter Beadle playing for us on loan there - must have been 1994?

He did indeed. A couple of rival football teams got together for an end of season day out. I didn't think you were on board but as you know most of them though you might have.

Yes your right about the Town centre. Some locals decided not to make us welcome, which I found rather rude.

The bus was the slowest in the world and the driver went the wrong way and we ended up taking about four hours to get there. I remember that car park because the bus never started after the match so we were the last to leave. If you remember they had invaded the pitch and tried to get to the Southend fans. We ended up in some cheap horror movie when the car won't start. Just as the locals, complete with dated mullets, descended on our bus the engine spluttered to a start and the panicking driver put it in gear and we slowly limped away to a big cheer from all on board.

I was asked to go on the coach, but couldn't leave that early on the day and decided to drive instead.

Stopped at a pub on the way back to celebrate.
