Peter Clarke - top professional

Clarky showed last night what the club means to him even though he has only been here a shot while compared to others.

But...Did anyone else not find it disspointing that only a few came over to clap the fans in the last time they will see us or we will see them this season, surely they should have come over and applauded. Even Ron did at the end so i dont think there is any excuse for them not to.

i was disappointed that only a few came back , i thought tilson would of made them go an applaud

With the pitch invasion I don't blame them for getting off the pitch sharpish. Those that did come over were the ones not in the thick of the invasion.

Personally I hate pitch invasions, even if it is to "celebrate" and would heavily penalise clubs whose fans invade.

I dont think thats a resonable excuse tbh, Tilly and Brush had to make there way over from the bench so they would have had to walk through the thick of the invasion.

Legend, a proper man. He could be faulted for 4 of their goals but he showed at the end that it hurt him and that he felt guilty. Even with all the home fans on the pitch he made the effort to applaud the fans and give them his shirt. Not enough players like him these days.

Probably because he got caught out of position for the all important first goal, got in the keepers way for the second (not that Shorty would have gone for it), and failed to get a tackle in for the third and fourth goals. Apart from that he had a good game, oh and he clapped the fans at the end which is all what matters.

I think, to be fair, those accusations could be labelled at just about every other outfield player last night - before he was involved in the 3rd goal, that ball should have been cleared at least 3 times... we won the thing back twice!!

Peter Clarke is certainly not infallable, but he is head and shoulders above any other defender we have at the club - and most of the other centre backs at this level. He does make mistakes, but if he didn't, would he be playing for us? Until we're playing Champions League football and regularly trading Premier League titles between ourselves, Man Utd and Chelski, we're going to have to put up with players who sometimes get caught out of position, and sometimes make the odd mistake.

and more importantly, have to cover for Barrett's inability!

Have to agree - think the pitch invasion didnt help things though but I am sure they could have come out after if they really wanted to. Maybe the 5-1 scoreline didnt help

I think his passion comes from his parents, they sat in front of me last night and had a full scale row for most of the second half about what was going on on the pitch!!

Peter Clark, Adam Barratt and Charlie Mulgrew were all in bits at the end of the game - with Clarky shedding the tears for the whole team

I'm frankly surprised that any of the players came over to see us at the end - I suspect that the players caught up in the middle of the invasion would have been bundled off the pitch by the stewards and not allowed back out again regardless. Its unliklely that T&B would have had much of a say in that, and when the crowd cleared from the pitch there would be no point in our boys coming out anyway - we were probably 1/2 way back to the coaches by then!

Tilly and Brush weren't wearing obvious club shirts. There's always a concern for how those rushing on are going to treat the away team. Like I said earlier, in the main, it was the younger, less experienced players who probably have never been caught up in that kind of situation that went off. Don't forget what happened at RH in our match against PV, they might have been expecting to come back out in a similar way (obviously not with their kids though). I find it hard to believe that any of our players would have deliberately chosen to snub the fans in that way.
