Breaking News Pepple recalled by Luton

No you're totally right but so far Kev hasn't given him the chance. I'd happily see him given one. I mentioned Kendall as he's the Cards replacement as such (good at pressing, closing down etc). I've always thought DW made an effort when I've seen him too so they could work as a pair with Waldron making runs behind.
I would like to see a little more of Waldron and think he hasn't been given the opportunity, but the cameos and games he has started I am yet to be impressed and Maher and Co must be seeing the same in training.

He certainly is no Pepple and I would like to see him start on Saturday. He won’t, it will be Kendall and Bonnie upfront.

We should get our chequebook out and sign Pepple if we have serious intentions of getting out of this league…the new consortium member has a pound or two. I think it is very unlikely we will get promoted trying to run this club on a sustainable basis, we might, but it’s a long shot!

Well, I see effort I just don’t see a crisp enough first touch or the physical strength (same with Kendall as well though to be honest) so am curious as to what you’ve seen otherwise so I can look out for it next time. Only looking for a discussion not an argument.

Anyway he’d be an outlier because he was 27 when he joined us with no track record in professional football and only half a season in NLN. It’s very rare for players with that profile go onto successful careers.

I’d imagine it’ll be announced Friday afternoon/evening, with his replacement announced about five minutes later.

That’s more or less what happened when we lost Cardwell.

Suspect Kev is currently fuming at Chris Phillips for breaking this news before then.
It may well be that you have seen more of his fleeting appearances than me, but based on what I have seen I have not been able to assess him one way or another. Footballers need time to bed in and their confidence improves based on performance and the length of time that performance lasts. What I do think, and always have done, is that he has yet to be given that opportunity. Maybe you can assess players quicker than me, quite likely, but my past experience on the playing side has always shown that playing time x encouragement brings out the best in a player (if it is there). When I have joined a new club back in the day, that was the mantra. I still don't understand what a outlier is. Is there another definition other than the AI one?

To be fair, I've just seen the Derbyshire rag posting that Chesterfield are after him. Don't think Chris can be blamed for what looks like a done deal.

Be interesting to see if TL and Kev turn up the the trust Q and A after this.

Which of course we shouldn't be - because there's no need at our level of the game to pay a substantial fee for anyone. If York are daft enough to, let them get on with it.
There is if we ever have ambitions of getting out of this league, money talks

Do we have someone lined up to replace him?

I think outlier is a statistics term rather than anything to do with AI.

I think you make some good points about players needing time to settle etc but I think the stuff Waldron is failing on isn’t particularly stuff that would be improved by playing time - IMO you’ve either got a good touch or you haven’t. I remember seeing Charlie Mulgrew’s first first touch and immediately knowing he was class. Waldron’s touch just isn’t silky, his footwork isn’t sharp. Of course you need more than just a good touch or else Mr Moncur wouldn’t be playing for the team bottom of the NL but IMO it’s one of the quickest ways to spot the players who have the quality.

I didn’t say it was justified…

You sure about that? Bonne has a reputation based on one good season at this level about 6 years ago and has scored about 4 goals since then (**** knows how). Waldron has had one good season at Step 2, and has barely featured for us. Walker - jury is massively out, but doesn't look like the answer to any of our problems. Kendall is really the only one that sparks any kind of enthusiasm.

Whilst Bonne got a hatful for Orient at this level probably the more impressive seasons were 11 in 26+7 in the Championship with Charlton and 12 in 29+14 with Ipswich in L1

Typically when he does get a goal or two he can go on runs of scoring regularly. Obviously we will all hope that happens.
