Breaking News Pepple recalled by Luton

I personally think its highly unlikely loanees have not been a major factor in their success. Ive seen it time and time again since we have been in this league

I take your point about what does the loanee club get from it if your loanees are competing with 9 others but Is strong Competition for places good? I suppose thats arguable both ways, but I wouldn't mind more than 2 players for each spot and clearly thats working too for the league leaders
tI think there is also a clear advantage to having a larger squad, and I have listed in previous post 7 important reasons why that is so in this league with 7 subs at this period in time

The top clubs mostly have large squads, for choice and rotation

We are back to a squad of 19. Do you think it helps York and Barnet to have 27?

Also we have at least managed to bring in 4 loanees. Pepple being the best of the bunch

4 of the top 5 sides average 10 loanees. So Do you think sharing the wages, getting to look at 10, and therefore a higher chance of getting a close up look at some really good young talent is wise?

A lot of the these also loanees are from ready made Under 21 sides from higher leagues. Also does it enhance the loaner clubs prospects of picking some up permanently if not this season then next or in the future?in on a permanent, by the sheer force of numbers being seen close up>

plus t does he choice and rotation aspect helps those clubs or hinders them on the balance of probabilities? What if 3 of your ten turn out to be of Pepples quality and propel you to promotion, even if they are gone next year? Then you rinse and repeat?
I'm playing devil's advocate to a certain extent as I agree a larger squad, up to a point, is likely to more beneficial than a smaller squad. But more importantly than numbers is the quality.

Are there teams nearer the bottom of the table that have large squads and/or lots of loans?

Are the sides nearer the top in the NL /u21 competition thing so have more games and hence need the bigger squad and can play their squad players in?

I want Waldron to succeed but having seen most of his 23 appearances - the majority of which were fwiw starts - I think that’s unlikely.

Thats not because it’s the thing to do but based on an assessment of having seem him play: the (lack of) quality of his touch, his play strength, his lack of improvement over the last 51 weeks.

It would seem that management have come to the same conclusion and at 28 he’s hardly one for the future.

I think he only had half a season of scoring at NLN level when he joined us. Had he been successful he’d have been an outlier.

I’d still pick him over Bonne for Saturday though.
T could probably argue the toss with you Yorkie, but it really isn't worth it, as we both think the same on the Kev opinion front. However, I would welcome a translation of why an outlier appears in your post, I thought that was to do with AI development.

Bim had a real sluggish game v Southport. On his heals and never looked after one ball into his feet.

A couple of us guessed he would be going this week. Probably not his choice but good luck to him as he is a real nice lad.

He will get better service in L2. The sort of early ball that Kendall crossed for his 2nd v Ebbsflleet. Or look up Dalby's goal in the Dundee darby last week. That sort of service will see Bim shine at that level.

Cardwell is definitely not coming back.
Neither is Fonguck, who has decided to try his luck over the water. Not totally disappointed if this is true....... we haven't the best record with returnees. Probably better to look forward and I, personally, will consider the squad come end of January before making any judgements. All in all; it should be an interesting month, on and off the pitch.

I loved watching Bim play - he could make a goal from nothing and I was on the edge of my seat when he was running forward with the ball, it's been a very, very long time since that happened. He was never ours to lose though and I wish him well in his future career and hope he has made the right decision. Socks down from the start, I love that.

Well, I see effort I just don’t see a crisp enough first touch or the physical strength (same with Kendall as well though to be honest) so am curious as to what you’ve seen otherwise so I can look out for it next time. Only looking for a discussion not an argument.

Anyway he’d be an outlier because he was 27 when he joined us with no track record in professional football and only half a season in NLN. It’s very rare for players with that profile go onto successful careers.

Bad that the club haven't said a word about this departure yet
I’d imagine it’ll be announced Friday afternoon/evening, with his replacement announced about five minutes later.

That’s more or less what happened when we lost Cardwell.

Suspect Kev is currently fuming at Chris Phillips for breaking this news before then.
