If the Yeovil rumours are true then its both good and bad news...
Good news because it would mean Luggy must be in good health...
Bad news because if we don't go up, next season will see a re-run of the situation when Tilly first got the Lincoln job and initially did well...for Lincoln read Yeovil, for Tilly read Luggy and for Luggy read Brown:angry:

On sky sports this evening, they were reporting that Yeovil would be announcing their new manager tomorrow. I expect it is pretty likely that Paul would be a great choice for them as he lives locally and is one of the most experienced managers at this level. I hope so, on many levels.

I have massive respect for him, he took over in the middle of one of our darkest hours, succeeded one of our most successful managers to date, built a squad from nothing within weeks and we still have the spine of that team here now. I fear we will lose a few of them to Yeovil next season though...

regardless, I wish Paul Sturrock all the very best of luck in his new job!

If we get to play them next year (hopefully in a cup:winking:) ) then I think he will get a great reception at roots hall which he will thoroughly deserve.

Sturrocks taking over at Yeovil

Delighted to see Paul Sturrock back in the league and about to take over Yeovil, who look pretty much doomed to league 2 football next year, wonder if Luggy would be interested in any of his old boys? or care to flog us Sokolik as a favour? Good luck PS!! who has just left Torquay after 4 days as advisor

Might PS be interested in "taking" some known faces to Yeovil?
Cocko as coach?
Some players after better/longer contracts than offer by RM and PB such as BBBC, Tims, Lenny?
Poaching a few ex- Shrimpers such as Tomlin, Clohessey?

I think this will liven up some contract negotiations maybe.

Has now left Torquay. Set to be announced as Yeovil boss. Better get Corr and Timlin signed up, Brown. Few quid on the Glovers to go straight back up next year I think.

Based on what exactly? Dinosaur manager best confined to history.

You're entitled to your opinion but if dinosaur means scoring more than two goals in a game, then fine. I liked Sturrock, his football wasn't particularly pretty but his teams scored goals. He got us our second highest ever points total and was exceptionally unlucky not to take us up. He also took us to our first ever Wembley final.

But I'm not getting into this argument again with a staunch member of the anti-Sturrock brigade. He's history as far as we're concerned.

I wouldn’t say bouncing straight up was a dead cert but it wouldn’t surprise me. I wouldn’t be happy if I were a Yeovil fan, long ball tactics for them now, I certainly don’t miss those days, he does now how to play that system though. I know people have a pop at Brown and the lack of goals but I’d rather watch a Brown team over a Sturrock team any day of the week.

Good luck Paul Sturrock.

Our favourite scot is now the front runner for the Yeovil job. He's just cut short his work with Torquay as an advisor. If he gets the job, I hope you will all join me in wishing him all the very best.
I always remember his first two sessions of training with hardly any players after they all jumped ship through not being payed etc etc. He seemed to spend all the time on the mobile at Boots and Laces desperately trying to get players in. He got some good ones in, and some rubbish, but the main thing was that we had the nucleus of a fair team to build on, and things were suddenly looking up, despite the dire situation the club was in. Some of those players had played for Paul Sturrock before, and jumped at the chance to play for him again. So hats off again to Paul Sturrock.

Yea absolutely - was incredible what he achieved and I seriously think if we had appointed anyone apart from him, we could be in obscurity now. His little black book of contacts saved our club and he unearthed some real gems in that time too and also found Mohsni who could have gone on to be a massive, massive player for us as opposed to the massive headcase he turned out to be!

Good luck Wee-Birdie!

I love Paul Sturrock and his appointment was one of the few successful decisions that RM has made in regard to the club.

But if he thinks he can get his sticky mitts on BBBC he's got another thing coming.

Good luck PS! I saw on SSN last night he quit the Torquay role after just 4 days to take a more permanent position elsewhere but didn't say where.

Oh, how I wish Southend fans were as supportive of Paul Sturrock when he was appointed to our club. What is it with us that we only start to say nice things about our players and managers after they have left.

Doh, why has this been moved? My thread was wishing him well at a much bigger job with Yeovil than the 4 day advisory roll at Torquay.
By the way, the talk now is that he could become Manager or a new Football Operations Manager at Yeovil, the latter with Skiverton still as Manager.
