Think he got offered a job at Charlton.

Laurence worked wonders with the teams fitness, the very low amounts of muscular injuries and lack of any fitness issues during his campaigns proves this.

He is a Southend fan (we used to watch them in our teens) but Charlton offered him a better opportunity. Wages, job stability plus a higher level and calibre of players to work with.

As with the rest of the clubs backroom staff, he wasn't replaced

Injuries, lack of fitness and a lack of discipline have killed our hopes of automatic promotion FACT

Uncle Ron should feel indebted to PS for baling him out after the T&B debacle. But PS has been around long enough to know that sooner or later RM will turn on him if results are below expectation. What we don't know is what timetable has been set.

PS could well pre-empt the situation imho.
He didn't bail out RM AFTER anything, he was "interviewed" for Tilly's job quite a while before Tilly was put on gardening leave, he may well have been out of a job and in his situation and I suppose many would have done the same, but PS isn't the saviour some of you think he is, a journeyman manager out of work who seized an opportunity when it arose. Let's be honest with his state of health how many other chairman would have given him a job ?

If the link does not load type in Steve Tilson lincoln press conference he knew he was going days before, RM went behind Tilly's back and had already offered a job to PS.

But either way that is done and dusted PS has done a remarkable job at this club and has turnt our fortunes around from what the club was potentially facing at the start of last season!!! Regardless of his health problems we have been in and around the top 3 all season, we may not be a stylish side but name one team of PS that has been and you will find none.
He likes the direct, long ball game and we have found some many times this season it has worked, we have a blip and everyone slats him and the team.

PS is the right man however if he wishes to leave at the end of the season let him and GC go and bring a manager in who wants the job. If he goes I'd like to see Andy Scott or Martin Allen. (SORRY GETTING AHEAD OF MYSELF BUT IF PS DOES GO THAT'S THE WAY TO GO)

It isn't a blip Dan. A blip ;lasts around amonth spanning maybe 7 or 8 games. We've been grossly inconsistent since mid december so somewhere along the line something or things are fundamentally not right.

I agree with you in that Paul was the right guy for the circumstances of the last two years but I don't think he is quite the man to push us forward still further. I'd say no to a Director role as he might well instruct the next management team to continue with the same playing style or at least encourage them to persevere with it.
