Doesn't matter whether we've heard of it before or not. Who's the player that can influence the greatest number of penalties? The keeper, because he faces (maybe) five and the takers only get one each. He's your most important player at that moment.

I make you right. No matter what we all think of Smith, Bentley is a bit of a penalty specialist for some reason. Good call by Sturrock.

Sturrock sees smith and bentley everyday in training, its quite obvious that during training bentley saves lots of penalties and smith does not, so maybe in sturrocks mind it was an easy choice

OMG Paul Sturrock you are a god. Hope Smith takes it as meant for the team rather than a personal insult

Very lucky Sturrock....If i was Smith i'd stick up two fingers and then let everyone see what a very average keeper Bentley really is!

Leicester v Palace 1996 play off final.

The game ended 1-1 at 90 minutes and went into extra-time. The biggest talking point of extra-time came with just seconds to go; Martin O'Neill sent on his substitute goalkeeper Željko Kalac, expecting the 6 ft 7in keeper to be a better bet at saving penalties than Kevin Poole. Immediately following the resumption of play, a long free-kick was only partially cleared by the Crystal Palace defence and the ball came back out to an unmarked St*v* Cl*r*dg* on the edge of the Palace box. Cl*ridg* then volleyed home the winner from 20 yards past the hapless Nigel Martyn with just under half a minute of extra-time left to play. Some Crystal Palace players later admitted they were put off by the substitution, though O'Neill admitted that was never the intention.

Before the last round, Bentley said that he's not usually very good with penalties.

Either way that was a ballsy call from Paul Sturrock. Very, very ballsy.

Can't wait for the Mockney games, especially the away leg, guess they will travel up on the train with us lot.

Anyone know the dates of the area finals?. With another 'big freeze ' looming, we dont want a fixture congestion, with 2-3 extra games to add to the calendar?.
Reckon Smith will be destroyed by this, despite us being victorious.
