Our Official website is embarrassing

I also make it 15 mistakes - how did you get 22?

By being really, really picky in trying to raise the number as high as I could.

I will admit that 2 of the 22 probably aren't really mistakes - I would write proofread and spellchecked as one word, but the first of those particularly I accept can just as well be written as two.

So, that might take us down to 20.... I counted a missing comma as one mistake and the difficulties he had with Scriv's name as three separate mistakes. I also counted "os" as one, as it should have been written with capital letters.

So, that may be why I had an inflated figure.

Just being really picky!

I used to work in publishing doing some writing, editing but mostly proofing.

Unfortunately, if you haven't mastered the basics of spelling, punctuation and grammar, you are going to make lots of mistakes. Not everyone is perfect, but if you are publishing content on an official website for an organisation, you really ought to be doing better than he does.

The site has come on leaps and bounds in recent yeards. Why has everyone got to knock all the time. Dave does a good job often working over weekends/late nights to keep us up to date.

I for one thing he does a great job and couldnt give a monkeys about the odd typo.

I don't care about the odd typo really. I just think he's a mug.

Very true - when Dave took it on that site was a joke and the programme wasn't much better. He's done a great job.

I have great admiration for the work Scriv does, to go up that ladder to the gantry is not something I would ever want, or be able, to do. However I think that any club-official publicly broadcast scribblings that can be seen by people all round the world should be as perfect as possible as it can be the first contact people may have with the mighty Southend United.
The reports etc are all advertisements for the business that is Southend United and should be correct in every detail, exactly the same as any company would want for their adverts.
I would not take too kindly if adverts for my business carried errors.
