One classic car of your choice what would it be?

Either one of these

A guy where I used to work was the same age as me (19) and always used to go on about his Aston at home and we always thought it was a wind up. Turns out it was totally true as I found out when I stayed over one night and spoke to his mother in the morning.

A gift from his rich father, as was the house they lived at in Ealing (parents separated), though he had to pay for all costs afterwards, and it sure as hell wasn't cheap to run, service, tyres etc for someone earning probably no more than about 6-7K in those days, but what a beauty it was inside. He also took me to the Aston garage in Greenwich (dunno if it's still there) but this wasn't long after Rowan Atkinson got done for DD and the Aston he had at the time was handed back to the garage to sell (had a gold plate with "presented to RA on the dash" it was a dead giveaway I tell ya !)

Or a Capri 3.0 GXL

Much better than the 2.8 version that replaced it. One of my cousin's ex-hubbies had one of these and I remember him still being able to wheelspin in 3rd gear. Mum wasn't overly impressed to see him doing this with her pride and joy in the back.

Thing that swings it to the 2.8 Special for me is that it's got a Limited Slip Diff in the back, making it the only Capri that you have a better than average chance of coming out the other end of a roundabout alive!!!!!

Not as bad as having a Mk 1 Escort. A fine car but not in a 1.1 - top speed of about 75 if I had a tailwind downhill and the brakes on it were shocking. If I had to brake hard enough in the wet I could easily do a 180 and once managed a rather spectacular 360 during which I had zero control of the car and miraculously avoided the parked cars on both sides of the road. Needless to say once I realised this I never drove remotely close to the car in front.

Of cars I've actually owned other than the two Impreza's my favourite car has to be the Mk 3 Cortina. bodies. I then progressed to Mk 4 and Mk 5 but they were nowhere near as good.

It's still all about the Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing...

Although I could be tempted by a Ferrari 250GT "California" Spyder:

Of classic cars that I have had the pleasure of driving, none beats this one:

A true British classic - the Austin Healey 3000.

I think i would have to agree with mts on the Austin Healey 3000 - stunning car and you can still pick up a good condition one for 15 to 20k
